Get that Community Garden Started. 2. Get your own Garden Started. 3. Invest in some heirloom seeds. 4. Get out of the Stock Market, Bonds, and out of debt. 5. Invest a little in some Gold & Silver (Silver is best). 6. Buy a gun if you don't have one, with at least a thousand rounds per gun you have. 7. Get stocked up on Food and Water (get a gravity fed water purifier like a Katadyn, Berkey, or Aqua Rain). 8. Have Food Prep Equipment that doesn't rely on electricity such as Grain Mills, Hand Blenders, etc. 9. Create, or if you already have one, fill to the brim a full and complete Medical Kit. Guest guest
I may add to this, stock up on chia seeds. No need to cook this, just add a little water and it would gel. Two tablespoons a day is all that is needed. Seeds if kept properly can last a long time - years. Guest guest
Hi Anella, Maybe I sound extremist, but I think your idea is not good as then the gov't knows where we all are! Think Waco and other compounds that were considered "dangerous" by the gov't where the gov't felt obligated to go in and kill innocent men, women, and children. In the case of David Koresh, he walked out and about in plain site in Waco and could have been arrested or apprehended at any time, instead, the gov't felt obligated to torch and burn to death women and children! There's always The Farm in Tennessee, and then there are communities in California reminiscent of the hippie era. I, for one, prefer as much anonymity as possible. I am not saying it would not be good for you (or others) to want to live in a like-minded community, I just would not want to have an entire community so easily identified. However, many people do start their communities and are so happy in them. As you can see, I am merely thinking out loud and do not see your idea as completely unfeasable, undoable, or wrong, I just know it would not work for me as I am so untrusting of our gov't. With all that said, perhaps one day we could all have a get together to meet and share ideas! I recieve Countryside and Small Stock Journal, there is a family in there who lives in Indiana on a large amount of acreage and every year they invite all the readers of the magazine to come camp out on their property one weekend in July. People bring their own camping gear, food, and own special talents to share. I've never gone, though it sounds like a blast! Maybe we can talk Doc or Bryan into doing something like this one day! (hint-hint) Lori "By preventing a free market in education, a handful of social engineers - backed by the industries that profit from compulsory schooling: teacher colleges, textbook publishers, materials suppliers, et al. - has ensured that most of our children will not have an education, even though they may be thoroughly schooled."– John Taylor Gatto He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty. There is safety in numbers but numbers bring attention to yourself. We are stuck in the middle between a rock and a hard place. My two cents worth. Keep rosemary by your garden gate.
