Guest guest
Oh no, you washed it. Water makes the oil spread. Jewel Weed is the Poison Oak / Poison Ivy remedy. You'll find it by the creek. It's also called 'Touch Me Not'. They are already a foot tall around here. My mother made a tincture last spring so if you can't find any, call us. Just google it for pictures and then send a neighborhood kid out to get you some. Always grows by the creeks. :-) ~B On 5/6/2010 3:18 PM, Anella Russo wrote: Okay, since you asked! ;-) I have never had poison Ivy after touching the plant. As a child I rolled in the stuff because I was sure that I was "broken" because everyone else got the rash but me. (the grass really is ALWAYS greener, isn't it?) Anyway, whenever we have it in our yard I have the job of yanking it up. Whether it's ivy, oak, sumac whatever. Well for the first time ever I have the rash. And I boy oh boy do I have it bad. I wonder if pregnancy is what makes me finally sensitive to it (I am currently in my 3rd trimester) or perhaps maybe I have simply tolerated all that I am able to. Either way, it's been more than a week since my one exposure and I am still finding new outbreaks each morning when I wake. I am covered from head to toe and simply miserable. I did wash as soon as I came in from that initial contact, clothes too with hot water etc. Any ideas on why now and also what really helps? Guest guest
So you can tincture it...i was not sure...but made a tuincture (of sorts) last yr, with commercially prepared witchhazel and commercial rubbing alcohol to be able to use on bug bites...it seemed to work well...I was unsure as I tinctured it fresh - and wondering if the high water content of the plant would cause it to spoil...so that is why i used the two products i did....I am wondering if the tincture your mother made was good for internal as well and wondering what the benefits could be if used internally...any info is appreciated...don--- On Fri, 5/7/10, Bryan Shillington <bryan wrote:Bryan Shillington <bryanSubject: {Herbal Remedies} Poison Ivy Herbherbal remedies Date: Friday, May 7, 2010, 1:31 PM Oh no, you washed it. Guest guest
Because Jewel Weed is so high in water content I like to use some 120 proof or stronger. As for taking Jewel Weed internally, I've never heard of it being used so. Do some research and please do tell.
