Guest guest
Sounds like Marfan's syndrome. Be careful, some cause to suspect big internal problems. What keyed me in was tall, very thin and stretch marks. Does he have really long fingers? Guest guest
Hi Y.C. and Hugo, Nice call Hugo. Y.C. can look here at the PubMed Central review paper from 2002 Heart called Management of Marfan syndrome: http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pmcentrez & artid=1767196 It tells the correct diagnosic features for arachnodactyly " (long fingers) if you scroll down to Figure 2. Very easy to do assessment. Marfan syndrome is a dominant trait that arises from mutation and so can be without a family history in as much as 26% of the cases. The arachnodactyly assessment with the stretch marks, etc. is without cost. May as well check it. If your assessments come out positive, might want to move him along for further WM assessment per above paper if he can cover the costs of such MRI and lab work. You can read at that review paper how this is managed to avoid emergency surgery. Respectfully, Emmanuel Segmen
Guest guest
You know, it seems that at least one doctor eliminated this diagnosis. Arachnodactyly does not appear to be one of his sx, though he has had mild scoliosis, bradychardia, and irregular beats, which have all resolved. No pedal or visual difficulties. y.c. Guest guest
My 16 yr old daughter has stretch marks that are really upsetting her terribly. They are light, except some on her hips, but they run from her upper thighs down her legs and she is very self conscious about them. We've tried coca butter, doc's tea tree oil and his deep tissue repair oil and nothing has gotten rid of them. Does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of these? She's talking about wanting to do laser surgery. Thank you, Robin
Guest guest
I got pregnant when I was 14 years 8 months old with my first child and have stretch marks from this pregnancy. I did the cocoa butter religiously, but still have them lightly on thighs (inner and some outer), on hips (deep ones!), belly, and breasts. All have faded to a slivery sheen, even the very deep purplish ones. I got these over 35 years go (son just turned 35 in March and I started to get these when I was 6/7 months pregnant for him; some as early as 4.5 months pregnant), and never got anymore with the next 7 kids. I gained 34 pounds with this son, so I did not gain tons of weight (lost 25 pounds within 3 days of his birth). To my knowledge they do not go away. I never found a way to get rid of them. I am now 50 years old. I have read that these can be genetic. I never wore a bikini after this son was born because of my stretch marks, and I just learned to live with them. They do not bother my husband, and they do fade to a silvery shade within a few years. Tell your daughter that many women get these when they have a growth spurt in their teens or when they have their first child. They are often just a fact of life. I know she will not like this, but they are not life threatening. They are aesthetic, and most guys do not care about these! If they do, they are shallow and not worth her time. Keep it up with the Deep Tissue Repair Oil. That stuff is amazing. ~B On 5/3/2010 5:37 PM, Lori Smith wrote: I got pregnant when I was 14 years 8 months old with my first child and have stretch marks from this pregnancy. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your awesome help! I talked to Kelly in the office and she said to use Vitamin E and the poultice healing powder, so we are trying that. I hope it helps! I know they are not life threatening, but still devastating for a 16 yr old and I'd rather try now to see if we can at least diminish them, rather than wait 20-30 yrs. We tried the DTRP and it didn't help. Robin
