Hi Bryan,

I am your neighbor several counties East of you. Jackson. Ramps are ready here.

Considered by old timers around here as one of the best spring detox herbs there

is. They will flush out or your skin 20 times more powerful than garlic, and

children are (0r were) excused from school for 3 days after eating them. Only

once, after that there was penalties. Absolutely delicious though. Raw, sauteed

with eggs and ham, or anything that would go with garlic.I pickle them for year

round use. they look like Lilly of the Valley.

Reminds me of a funny story.

Ambassador Jack McFall, first head of the United Nations when first formed, was

our neighbor here. He tried ramps at my grandfather's house, loved them and

asked for a bag to take to Washington the next day, as he had a meeting with the

Pres. and several Secretaries. He was given a large paper bag full.

We got an irrate call the next day. He had to postpone his meetings. He had

packed that bag in his suitcase. Had to purchase complete new clothes and items.

Suitcase, shoes everything. Not to mention his body oder from eating many raw.

They are very regional. They grow on the Northern slope, in dense shade with

moist conditions for the most part, above 3,000' in the moountains. They are

only harvestble for a month or so.

Someone said they found them on ebay?

Ramping.

Always carry a sharp knife. After digging them up, cut the roots off while

fresh with a bit of the bulb and replant somewhere proper. There will be another

batch next year. Cover with a lot of leaf mold to keep them moist.
