Guest guest
Fascinating. thank you so much! Do they roam on ground like chickens also? Yes. They scratch a pick. Or are they considerd a bird? Yes to this as well. They fly very well but with lots of flapping. ML CJ Do they make much noise...No. No noise at all from the hens but the males do sound like a flexing cookie sheet. would love to have chickens...but all that crowing would give me away and the martha stewart wannabee nazis of the hood would have a fit!...lol...I know the kind of neighbors you're talking about and I think Quail would fool them. They'd never know you were raising livestock and getting fresh eggs. Nosy little bastards. Do you have them in a coop?No...or running free range? Would be best but they would be wild and considered Game Birds ....any predators? The usual cats, rats, coyote, coons, weasel, birds of prey, etc. or would caged be best - caged humanely to protect them... Everyone I know who raises Quail use rabbit hutches. Easy to collect eggs, feed and water.Ours are in an off the ground hutch. (The kind you get at the feed store for $18) ~B don
