Guest guest
Does anyone know how to keep these critters away? I try to grow as much as I can in pots and trays on my screened patio. But growing sunflower seeds is impossible. The squirrels ate holes in my screen to get in and make a mess out of my trays every time. And I live in a condo on the second floor. I am so frustrated. Any ideas from anyone what to do about that? Thanks Christel

Guest guest
There are several strategies that can work or at lest help...one is to repel them...another is to eradicate them thru trapping or poison...another is to make it difficult / harmful to the pest to get to the 'object of desire'...another is to protect the object of desire... for ex: netting over a cherry tree to prevent birds from eating them - = denying access...a cat is a deterrent / cat feces ( think predator feces) is a repellant...a dog / cat in the yard is a lager - hopefully 'more on the the job' faster / larger predator to the squirrel...the particular situation mentioned here sounds like the food supply in the area is less than what can easily support squirrel life there4 the squirrels = 'cute rats' are more aggressive to get at your stuff...in many areas the natural balance of things is upset as they are sort of 'protected'...and those who feed seed to the birds have kept the squirrels in good supply and so they multiply...don--- On Mon, 4/5/10, Kelly Shillington <kelly wrote:Kelly Shillington <kellyRe: {Herbal Remedies} squirrelsherbal remedies Date: Monday, April 5, 2010, 12:51 PM I have heard that having a cat will keep squirrels away...I have not tried it though...
