Guest guest
Yes, well the Pasta and the sweet tooth have to go. It really is a question of changing your habits here. A change of lifestyle. You both need to adopt the viewpoint of, "I'm not a 'Sweets Eater". I'm not a Carboholic." The both of you are suffering from self inflicted wounds here, and just need to decide to "make the change". And the change HAS to be permanent. The number of people who've gone on diets, lost the necessary weight and then immediately put it back on once the diet was over is in the millions. People just don't get it, and never ask themselves "How did I get into this condition in the first place?". One has to look at Cause and Effect. You're either the boss, or your body is. Regardless, the choice is yours. In Knowledge, Health, & Freedom, Doc On 4/10/2010 12:03 PM, Pamela Tand wrote: I do use Astragalus and a few others to help control my blood sugar levels. Both my Steve and I are diabetic. I control it mainly with diet and exercise and the help of some herbs. Steve on the other hand is insulin dependant at this point, he has a wicked sweet tooth, he will use stevia at times but is more honey or sugar. I'm liking that it helps remove the want of sugar as much as the help with diabeties. I'm slowly getting him to eat better, working my way to an all organic diet (lost my job recently now bringing my business up a notch, so money is so tight, it's not affordable for a family of four). We are growing our own gardens this year. Herbs and veggies. Another month we will be spending some weekends until farmers markets begin in the blue hills of mass and see what we can recognize and hopefully wildcraft. Must say the step-kids are not liking not having so many "treats" in the house! Oh well, side effect is the very overweight 13yo is no longer so overweight and has even started going outside for walks several times a week! LOL This week I've challanged Steve to not eating sweets or pasta's or even bread this week! Pasta is my weakness! Though lately I've been using Enoki mushrooms as my "pasta". I'd say it was definitely worth checking out, and perhaps some of our "Eastern" Friends on Herbal Remedies would have more data on it, and be willing to share their knowledge of it. However, my personal favorite Eastern Herb that I DO know a lot about, for balancing Blood Sugar Levels is "Astragalus" which also balances Metabolism, Hormone levels and builds up, and fortifies the Immune system. This is why I put Astragalus into my Total Nutrition Formula. It is that potent of an herb. I also believe this is why neither I nor Valorie have had a cold or flu in over a dozen years. Guest guest
Just recently found out that Whole Foods is owned by Corporate America = The Duponts, etc. This company has more than compromised with its integrity. I even found it in organic form from Whole Foods. It comes in caplets. They dont smell too good though. This one is from the Himalayas. Though I am skeptic of its possible heavy metal contamination as we have been warned of these aryuvedic herbs. I am a type 1 and so far my craving for sugar has decreased substantially. I am also feeling that I need to take less insulin for the carbs I am eating. THough at times I am having trouble with highs. I have read possitive studies about this herb helping type 1 diabetics handle this. I may have to take this herb for a few more months and see if this really works or not. Doc, I can send you some information via the mail about this herb if you like. This may be something you can think about carrying. We need to get into the habit of not cooking or preparing food with sugar or honey or any sweetener at all. Again, only use Stevia as your sweetener. Best is to get rid of your sweet tooth altogether, and just don't succumb to your body's demands for "sweet".
