Guest guest
Hi Doc & everyone! I would love some help on this....my sister adopted a puppy last week. He came from North Carolina (we are in New Jersey). Ten puppies were brought here together to be adopted. When my sister got him, he had diarrea from a parasite Giardia (from drinking bad water) and was treated once for it but would need another round of medication. He went to the vet and was doing ok....eating, drinking, playing and even gained a pound in a few days. However yesterday he was more tired and she took him back the vet and he had a fever of 105, still having diarrea and his blood work said he has a virus. We are afraid that is might be distemper. He has only received one shot for it so far. He originally was in a kill shelter and rescued by this adoption place. He is only 8 weeks old. Can anyone please help and suggest something that could possibly save this puppy? Thank you very much! Gina
Guest guest
Hi Gina, I would make sure he is not eating a commercial dry dog food but on a whole food diet which includes finely chopped garlic and chopped parsley. Make sure he has lots of water. I can give you more detail on diet later in the day. Guest guest
He's doing so much better. I think he just had some kind of bug going thru his system. He's a playful pup eating and drinking thankfully. Thanks! Gina In a message dated 2/1/2010 4:20:57 P.M. Guest guest
Dear Gina, The Total Pet Nutrition Formula can save him. I'd also give him a half a clove of garlic in both ends ;o))) Add the half clove to a little hamburger meat and have him down it whole. Then take the other half and stick it where the sun don't shine as a suppository. I'd stay away from the shot if I were you, but that's your choice.
