Guest guest
Dear Daniel, i have treated several hundred of these successfully over the last 4 years. As a base line what you treat- the phlegm obstruction presentation as well as blood stasis. in my clinical expereince if you do not address the blood stasis issue then the cyst keeps returning. in addition, keep asking the patient (nicely) when this all started-even with a " clean " diet, there is something that keeps prolonging the inflammatory response. in my expereince it is typically multifactorial-you have the initial insult compounded by some trigger that tends to " flare up the cyst " and that is when the patient actually notices the darn thing. enough lecture from me. here is a process i typcially follow: again, without " feeling that pulse " i cannot be accurate, however, if you are at a loss, here is standard protocol i use: it has three parts, needles, bodywork, herbs. part 1: needles- here are the points: Ah Shi St 37 contralateral; Ah Shi GB 40 contalateral; Ah shi Liv 4 contralateral; needle only if ah shi- second set of points zi gong xue and CV 3; part 2 bodywork- how good are your tui na or shiatsu skills? and do you make your own jiao? if not, start developing your in house stuff. apply jiao topically while doing the bodywork. look for the borders where there is " hardness " -literally does not have to hurt, it just feels rougher, (and no do not feel the bone and say it is rough just look for the soft tissue) " break down " the tissue using some good old fashioned tuina one finger zen technique-if you are unsure ask your local ABT person and they can point you in the right direction; if you are a zen shiatsu fan-IF zi gong xue is tender and the spleen diagnostic point is tender with light palpation as well, or " jutsu " some practitioners would say, THEN work the heart extension meridains at the lower extremities. part 3 herbal: ready made chinese medicine i typcially use something like Scrophularia 12 from ITM; if you are into Honso/Kampo types of herbals, then i use H03, (Yi Zi Tang) combined with H40 (Zhu Ling Tang). with writing and administering your own herbal formula, you can use the Yi Zi Tang along with Shu Gan Xiao Lei Pian as base formulas, combine with promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis herbals. i do not think you would need to go as far as " break blood " but it depends on the presentation, pulse, etc. and then you would administer your additions and subtractions. hope this helps. gonzo flores , " Daniel " <solothurner> wrote: > Hi, list members, > > Need some help on this one: > > Ganglion cyst on wrist, distal pulse position, painful-to-touch > swelling, used " fire needle " 4 times in three months to drain gel-like > fluid. > > Female, 34, 4-6 hours/day of mouse/keyboard usage, Asian diet with > adequate fruit/veggie intake, average or below average arachidonic > acid consumption, no other sx, pulse normal, tongue thin white coat, > multi-vit/min supplement, no meds, no birth control, little coffee, > very little alcohol. > > Any suggestions on prolonging/preventing fluid accumulation? Guest guest
Although not very holistic, but still legitimate and effective treatment for ganglion cysts is hitting it with a large book to rupture the cyst. I'm not kidding. Just make sure the wrist is positioned and supported in a wright way to limit the impact to the cyst. Use tight bandage for couple days after the procedure. I was using this technique while practicing as a surgeon with a great success. Best regards Ed , " Daniel " <solothurner> wrote: > Hi, list members, > > Need some help on this one: > > Ganglion cyst on wrist, distal pulse position, painful-to-touch > swelling, used " fire needle " 4 times in three months to drain gel- like > fluid. Guest guest
Andy, Treated many of these back in the old days in China. Two approaches: 1. Smash with a heavy book 2. Use four corners needling with a needle in the center Bob , " aseplow " <aseplow> wrote: > Does anyone have any experience treating ganglion cysts using Chinese > medicine? Guest guest
Patti this is going to sound strange but here goes I had one removed when I was in high school about 30 years ago and I got another one on the same wrist about 15 years ago in about the same place. I actually just whacked my wrist on a hard counter and it burst and went away. I have had no problems with cysts since then It did hurt like heck but it was worth it. - Tracy herbal remedies , Mary Ostrowski <mary wrote: > > Patti, > Use hot and cold therapy , Bone Flesh and Cartilage formula and Deep > Tissue Repair Oil. > Mary > > > > Patti Zane wrote: > > > > > > *I fell and a cyst came upon my wrist.
