Guest guest
About three weeks ago I went to the hospital for spotting and cramping at about 11 weeks pregnant. An ultrasound found that the baby had no heartbeat. A week later I had severe labor type cramping and passed a lot of tissue. Another ultrasound showed that I had not passed all the tissue. My doctor recommended a D and C. I do not want to have surgery, so I opted to wait and see. A week after, I had the severe cramping and passed a lot more tissue. A week has passed since my last ultrasound that showed a large clot still. A blood test showed that I am severely anemic now. I am eating a lot of iron rich foods and resting. My doctor really wants to do the surgery, but I really don't want to. I want my body to do what it needs to do without the surgical intervention. I would Really appreciate any advice on this...are there any herbs I could take? Thank you! -Leah
Guest guest
In September 1984, I miscarried (blood running out of me like water~Sorry! If you are squeamish!) at about 9 weeks gestation. I went to the ER on advice of family doc and gyn; the ER doc wanted to keep me for "observation" but I said no as I did not have insurance. I continued to bleed for the next 5 weeks. I had made an appt. on a sliding scale basis (we were low-income back then) and it would have cost me $135.00 for a D & C, which I did not want, in a hospital I did not want to go to (I was pro-life picketing on Saturday's outside their establishment), and had major ethical issues with going to them for my own care. (I had gone to ER in a different hospital, but this was the only one in town who offered a sliding scale fee.) I called on a Wednesday and had an appt. for a D & C for the next Wednesday.I was very new to using herbs (had only used black cohosh, lobelia, squaw vine, red raspberry, and pennyroyal the last 6 weeks of pregnancy in 1983) and went to the only herbal I knew or owned at the time, "Herbally Yours" by Penny C. Royal, and it said to use lobelia and false unicorn for miscarriage. Since then catnip has also been added. (I have a later version as I wore mine out!) I didn't have any false unicorn, was broke as husband was getting ready to be laid off, and was tired all the time as I'd been bleeding so long and I had 3 other kids to take care of. I knew that lobelia could cause stomach upset if taken in large doses, but I also knew it was a strong herb and I decided to try the lobelia as I already had almost a full bottle. I took 5 capsules, beginning Sat afternoon, and took 5 capsules 3 times per day the rest of that day, Sun, and Mon. Monday evening, about 4pm, I had some menstrual cramping, not too hard, but a bit uncomfortable, and around 9pm that night I passed something about the size of a dime that had a little "curly q" on it (umbilical cord?), and then I flushed it down the toilet after I had checked it out. The next morning (Tuesday) my bleeding was in half. I called and cancelled my D & C that was scheduled for the following day (Weds). On Thursday all bleeding was stopped, had a period 4 weeks later, got pregnant for a daughter 5 months later, and never did go back to the doctor for any follow up of any kind concerning that miscarriage. (I'd had a blood test to confirm pregnancy and also lost tissue pieces.) In the book it says that false unicorn and lobelia should be used together. Like I said, I only had the lobelia, but you could use both (I would have had I been able to afford it at the time!), and I took 5 capsules 3 times per day, and you can try this, but as you know, each person is different. I was almost 25 years old when all this occured. I hope this information helps you. Please keep us all informed as to how you are doing.
