Our 6 year old has 4 bad cavities in his molars.  and he has an appointment to have surgery to have them fixed or taken out.  Is it possible that he could avoid the surgery?  and get better health of his teeth and to save his teeth....if so...how???

I thought I heard something along these lines years ago.thanks//(*< *)\\  Holly V. ..........................mom to 3...\0/

There is simply no reason to risk the life of a child with an unneccessary

surgery. Teeth are live and they can and will fix themselves. There are several

good methods...do some research. I am sure that your dentist will tell you that

we are crazy and he needs his teeth fixed. Don't believe him, like an MD he is

in it for your money...not your heath. You can fix your son's (daughter's?)

teeth if you are willing to do the work involved. First take an honest look at

his/her diet.

1. how much raw orgnic food is eaten?

2. how much calcium ae you serving?(commercial milk does NOT count)

3. how many calcium depleting foods do you serve? (grains, sugar, meat,

commercial dairy?)

4. I am sure that you wouldn't be on a list like this if you were foolish enough

to intentionally give your child poison in the form of " ADD or ADHD " drugs.

Cavaties would be the least of your problems then. :-)

I was a dental assistant for 25 years and I have a few questions? Why do they want to take teeth out of a 6 year old? If they are his "baby" teeth he should have them molars until he is about 13 if they are his permanent ones his '1st' molars he should have the for the rest of his life. At 6 there should be no reason to loose his teeth!!! My son is 9 and believe me he has had cavities. And he had his mom in the dental field so it was not a good thing. I had them all fixed with the resin filling no amalgam which they always want to put into kids but I would not have that done to any little kids now a days. My son has since gotten on a much better diet eating full meals not being so picky. I make sure all my kids drink their milk everyday (we drink goat milk) and so far no cavities for 2 years. My son had to

do the work and keep his teeth clean and free of sugars etc. He has worked hard and it is paying off. Now my other two kids have NEVER had a cavity so the work does pay off. Good luck with getting the teeth fixed. I would see another dentist for a second opinion. Try to find a dentist that works only with children and one that does not drive a fancy car and live in a million dollar home. I have worked for them and they are only in it for the money. from what the dentist said, they are molars that are supposed to stay there until he's 12.  He eats pretty good, and few sweets.//(*< *)\\  Holly V. ..........................mom to 3...\0/

My family dentist wanted us to put my daugher under anesthesia to repair cavities in her teeth. We just let them naturally fall out and her adult teeth are coming in.

Here are some websites I found helpful.

www.mamagums.com is a good resource for oral care.

I personally would not submit a child to orally surgery unless there was some kind of infection or emergency involved that was a serious threat.

Here is a product I used to help my daughter improve the cavities in her teeth and rebuild the teeth.

http://www.dentist.net/oravive.asp

Also, the Weston A. Price Foundation, a famous dentist that wrote several books on how diet determines the health of ones teeth. They recommend bone soups cooked with a bit of vinegar to bring out the calcium. I make beef or chicken soup once or twice a week for my children and they love it. Also, I give them raw whole milk which is full of calcium for their teeth and bones. It's expensive but cheaper than dentists.

I haven't tried it on my children yet but Doc's egg calcium recipe sounds good for getting a lot of calcium in the system. The product I've used most is A to B Calm for calcium supplementation because it is easy to use. A half a cup at night for my kids.

Hope that helps.

Becca, thanks for your email.  I'm curious if I was to do this, what about them hurting?  So far, he only seems uncomfortable when I'm trying to brush his teeth.  But maybe that's just because I'm trying to brush, but I'm not sure.

The websites were great to do with gum disease and I hope everyone can use the sites to help with that. But cavities are another story you need to get them fixed then get on a good diet to get his teeth strong so there will be no more cavities. I would not have my child put out for dental work either but please get your child to another dentist and see what they say. Teeth should not hurt when being brushed now the gums might if brushed to hard in a child. If the child's teeth are decayed beyond getting them repaired then they will have to come out but at 6 I really doubt that at this early age. If the teeth abscess they can harm the permanent teeth below them and they will actually eat away enamel on the permanent teeth as well. And watch out this dentist could report you for not getting your kids teeth fixed it is

actually considered child neglect. Good luck. Lori--- On Fri, 11/20/09, Holly V. <peacefullone wrote:Holly V. <peacefulloneRe: {Herbal Remedies} Re: 6 year old and cavities?herbal remedies Date: Friday, November 20, 2009, 1:49 PM
