Guest guest
Does anyone know how I can find info on the year that U.S. policy changed the sweetener input of foods? Food used to be canec sugar based and now HFCS is used as the main sweetener in many foods. Thanks.
Guest guest
I believe it was during the Nixon years. I vaguely remember reading something about him wanting food to be cheap and HFCS being the answer... herbal remedies , " ridge957 " <ridge957 wrote: > > Does anyone know how I can find info on the year that U.S. policy changed the sweetener input of foods? Guest guest
THat was probably part of the Watergate scandal that was going on. haha I do see Organic cane sugar or just cane juice as the sweetner in almost all the organic foods rainging from cereal to teas, to bars, juice, deserts, etc. This is another reason to try to eat mostly organic. THis way you can avoid HFCS as much as poissible, since 99.9 percent of all the non organic products have this cheap stinkin sugar in them. Some even have splenda as well. If I do sweeten anything it is with raw organic cane sugar or stevia. Guest guest
I thought I mentioned Agave in my post, but I see now I didn't. I use agave nectar too. I can find raw blue organic agave nectar in the organic section of a store here. It is low glycemic and very tasty to say the least. I need to becareful and not overindulge in its usage. Guest guest
Oh, that's true... it would be easy to use too much. I order it by the 5 gallon buckets because is cheaper that way, but it will last me a LONG time... Sheila Robert Nodge wrote: I thought I mentioned Agave in my post, but I see now I didn't.
