Hey Joyce,

Covered this earlier, but to reiterate, you can use human formulas on animals.

The EAR Formula will help immediately, but remember you also need to find the CAUSE of this.

Does your pup have any aluminum bowls? Is he on meds??? Is he getting any kind of toxins in his food? Are you feeding him the right kinds of foods??? These all need to be answered.

I've straightened out more pets with my Total Pet Nutrition, but if you don't find the cause, even this will eventually end up being a bandaid approach if you don't get to the cause.

Remember, Naturopathy means "Handling the Cause of Disease".

You have to evaluate what's bringing about the condition, and then use the TPN to bring about a permanent resolution to it all once you handle the CAUSE.

Hope this helps.

Having a small dog with chronic ear aches and allergies I would truly be interested in PET herbal remedies.

Many thanks!! Joyce

Many thanks Doc.

My little guy is going to be six next month and he weighs 18 pounds. He has ceramic dishes. He is typically on no medications as I don't like to take medication. Due to inflammation in his right ear drum (causing him pain) he was on Clavomox 125 mg twice a day for 7 days. All he did was drink and wet so I discontinued that as it seemed to be too hard on his kidneys. That is the antibiotic so he isn't recovering very quickly.

He was also prescribed Tramadol 25 mg twice a day for pain. He seems to be doing ok with one dose in the evening. I give him a baby aspirin during the day to try to help him feel better. His little eyes look so miserable.

He gets Mometamax drops in his ears once a day. That is the topical antibiotic. I am hoping that it will help him while his immune system works to fight off this infection.

Our doctor has been treating our pets for 23 years. It just seems that finally he is not getting it with this one. This is the second bad bout with ear infection this year.

He has chronic allergies Doc so yes, I do need to figure out the cause rather than to continue to address his symptoms which are a dry cough, wheezing in his nose, shaking his head. When he starts to do this I know he is getting sick.

He is on dry dog food (Science Diet for Sensitive Stomachs), no people food. No supplements.

I found a naturpathic pet site where there was a book Trudy's Home Made Dog Food. I am not real computer literate so haven't seen your pet Total Pet Nutrition. Mary sent me a catalog so I will go check that out for the TPN and ear formula.

As for the cause, I guess I will change his diet first and go from there. He has led a pretty sedentary life style but I am trying to add exercise and fresh air to his routine. I drove him to the local park this morning and walked him. He enjoyed the ride and perked right up. I plan on doing this 3 - 4 times per week.

Thank you so much for your help. He is my baby and since he can't talk it makes it hard to know how to treat him.

Joyce

PS

I had been treating him with garlic oil drops but he still got sick so I felt I had to take him to the vet. I used organic garlic and organic olive oil to make my infusion for his ear drops.

Someone said they fed their pet raw garlic? He would eat onions and garlic if I gave it to him. Not sure how much to let him have?

The commercial dog food is junk. Doc typically recommends Flint River

Ranch. You can get it mail order in local natural pet food stores,

Most of the commercial ones are though a few are decent if you want to pay a few extra bucks. Science Diet is the one my dog eats and she is a very healthy and energetic beagle. I never herd of flint River Ranch. How is it compared to Science diet? Maybe one day I will get Doc's pet formula.

Flint River ranch is awesome. When you do content analysis and nutritional breakdown comparison the difference is amazing. A Petsmart dog trainer gave me an article from a dog lovers magazine about this last year. She had to sneak it to me because the article listed many of the Petsmart brands as junk!! Flint River Ranch was one of only 2 or 3 that this study found to be acceptable. I find that it does not cost me any more to buy this one becasue my dogs eats so little of it. I have a very large dog and becasue this is such complete nutrition, he only eats about a cup. (Which of course means there is less clean up after he eats too). I buy it at Red Bandanna and I pay about $35.00 for a 1 month supply. But you can also get it from the company web-site too.
