Traveling with the Green Dragon etc.

Hi all,

I'm going to travel in a few months and don't want to end up in some foreign or

domestic restricted accommodations. ;-) I have to say the ingredients etc of

the Green Dragon are great and I don't want to be without them for a month.

But, they may look odd to the regular customs/immigration/TSA or their foreign

equivalent agents. I know there are lots of my fellow Green Dragon etc

compatriots out there who travel with these ingredients.

My question is .... how do I travel with these ingredients without them calling

undo attention to me? (or landing me in those restricted accomodations!!!)

Any and all suggestions will be very gratefully received.

Alexis

I don't know where you are going or what the Green Dragon is but I just got back from Australia a few months ago. I was concerned about traveling with my herb tinctures. But they didn't act the least bit interested in any of them. The big bottles were still in my suitcase and I was never asked about the small travel size. On the way over there, my carry-on was scanned twice and searched. They could not figure out what something was. I think it was our noiseless headphones. On the way home, I was sniffed and search for a bomb in Melbourne and then in LA I was sniffed and searched by a dog who thought I had something to eat that I was not supposed to have. So I had ample opportunities to have it found and confiscated or thrown in the clinker. I just carried in brown bottles with my own instructions printed on them. I too was very concerned about traveling with unorthodoxed medications and I asked for advice from here.

Good luck and have fun

Pam

Hi PJ,

Thanks for the input. I'm talking about the Total Nutrition, Total Tonic, yes, the powders and bottles that may be questioned. It is comforting to know that you had no problems.

My trip is still in the planning stage, but it looks like it will be to one or all of Sweden, Finland, Germany and Italy. So, a few borders there and the language barriers. But I hate to go a month without all of that stuff.

I think I'll get a padded case for the bottles and pack them in my checked baggage. Perhaps that will be the least likely way to not have them questioned.

Thanks for your input, it helps. I know others must travel with this stuff too, so I hope I don't get locked up in some foreign cell!!!

Hi Alexis,I travel a lot. The level of scrutiny you will get varies by airport and by country as well. If they are checked through you should have no issues. Having said that don't spend too much on a case etc. Things have a way of "disappearing" in checked luggage. If you keep it to less than 3.4 oz and in a quart size bad you should be ok.jl--- On Thu, 10/29/09, Alexis McLaughlin <amm2fl wrote:Alexis McLaughlin <amm2flRe: {Herbal Remedies} Traveling with the Green Dragon etc.herbal remedies Date: Thursday, October 29, 2009, 1:45 PM

What if you were to carry the ingredients that aren't easily acquired, in their original packaging/labeling, & simply purchase, once you're arrived at your destination, any fresh or easily found ingredients?I would think that anything glass would be questioned, simply for safety reasons- less so for the actual contents...And, have you seen how they handle checked baggage??????I wouldn't check anything I'm not willing to lose or have destroyed... herbal remedies From: jlDate: Thu, 29 Oct 2009 13:52:58 -0700Re: {Herbal Remedies} Traveling with the Green Dragon etc.

Yikes Ranie,

You're giving me lots to think about. I can't imagine being able to brew this stuff up in a hotel! Maybe I should ship it and keep it out of the hands of those baggage handlers (they seem to have a bad reputation). I guess I ought to pack some clothes in a carry-on. I'm not willing to loose all my clothes. I'm glad I asked the group long before my trip so I can plan well.

Thanks for your insights.

I haven't had that problem in the states but flying out of the states

is a real mess. They spilled shampoo all over my suitcase and didn't

tighten lids on anything back and left my suitcase in a mess.
