Guest guest
I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a pregnant mom who is being affected by the nationwide shortage of natural desiccated thyroid hormones. I'm on Armour specifically but not feeling well since they changed the formula several months ago. I am impressed with the urgent need to get off the thyroid replacement but I have to have a working thyroid in order to do that- my health and babies health is at stake. So if there is any advice anyone can give, I would be most appreciative. Thank you. Lori
Guest guest
Does anybody know about how I can use herbs (that must be safe for pregnancy) or foods in order to regain thyroid function and normalize hormones? Also, looking for how to get hold of the CD's Dr. Ian recommends us listening to? Lori herbal remedies , " research_babe " <research_babe wrote: > > I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. Guest guest
I cook with seaweed. I add it to soups and to mashed potatoes, anything that's liquidy enough. It adds great flavor and is so high in iodine that it has great benefit for the thyroid. herbal remedies From: research_babeDate: Mon, 5 Oct 2009 14:53:11 +0000{Herbal Remedies} Re: intro and help needed... Guest guest
I don't know what's available in your area but, when I go to the health food store, I buy a package of kelp labeled: "Maine Coast Sea Vegetables KELPWild Atlantic Kombu". Basically, I'm just buying dried kelp leaves. I break off a piece of leaf about 3 or 4 inches long (I don't measure) and toss it in. It's edible. I don't usually eat it; I just let all the good stuff come out in the broth (or whatever I'm cooking) and then I scoop it out and set it aside. It adds flavor because kelp has naturally occurring glutamates on its leaves (it looks like a white dust). These glutamates also tenderize the vegies you're cooking with. And you won't need as much salt because kelp tastes real' salty all by itself. On the back of the package, the nutrients are listed as such (per 1/3 cup):Vitamin A 1%Calcium 7%Iron 25%Riboflavin 12%Niacin 2%Vitamin B6 40%Vitamin B 12 9%Magnesium 21%Phosphorus 3%Iodine 2114% <-- Thus the reason it's good for thyroid!Fluoride 11%Chromium 14%Zinc 2% herbal remedies From: research_babeDate: Tue, 6 Oct 2009 14:28:24 +0000{Herbal Remedies} Re: intro and help needed...
