unresolved ear infection?

So I think the horse raddish is working to thin out the nasty phelgm I have, so thanks!

 

I think I've mentioned before that I have enlarged lymphnodes behind my ear, retro aucuilar I think. I noticed the hard knot about 2 years ago after dental work (that never got totally fixed until I got them redone about 3 weeks ago). About 6 months later the hard knot went soft, and then I could feel up to 3 nodes, squishy and mobile. I was told that as long as they are mobile it's ok. But I want to know what it's trying to battle!

 

When I was 10 (17 years ago!) I had a horrible ear infection and I went to the urgent care and they put a sponge roll in my ear and I think antibiotics to drop in. I remember laying on my side and my mom putting drops in my ear. They thought it was swimmers ear. It eventually went away but when I would clean my ear out (up to today) sometimes there would be a little tenderness. Sometimes it does hurt when I try to "shut" my ear by pressing it closed.

 

Could this all be from an unresolved infection? I just got off a round of anti biotics 2 days ago because nothing else was working. I still feel the bumps so I'm sticking a garlic clove in my ear.
