Hi Tammy;

Sorry I Did not reply right away. I get so many emails that I cant seem to get through all of them.

On the chestnuts, I dont know where you can buy them, i usually find them on the ground in the fall when they fall from the trees. Nobody collects them and they just go to waste. I would think that if they grow here, than you should be able to find them where you live. They will be a yellowish green in color about the size of a big orange. They have wrinkles all over and look like a brain. They are a little bit sticky.. If you can't find them, let me know, There was a tree here in town that used to have them, but the owners cut it down. There are probally more here, but I have not been looking. If you want you can email me off list.

If you will get the Horse Chestnut pods from the tree when they mature. It is usually around this time of the year. Take and place the round seed pods in corner of rooms, under kitchen cabinets, closets etc. It will get rid of spiders, cockroaches and other bugs. Be sure and place them where pets and children cannot get ahold of them.

I live in Ohio and people around here have always called them hedge apples or monkey balls (I know, the last one is vulgar), but this is what Ohioans call these big yellow, wrinkled tree fruit which fall all over roadways.
