Ok... We are very clean responsible people...not nasty and dirty or anything. Took my 4 year old daughter to the doctor today and she has SCABIES!!! She is not in preschool yet, where in the world could she catch something like this. I am so grossed out! She played in the sand at the park, can it survive there, or did she have to catch it from someone? Doc prescribed a topical oitment for all of us, tho she is the only one showing symptoms, rash head to toe, and itchy as all get out, poor thing has eczema, too :( so....I gotta wash all the bedding in HOT water.... what else? where in the world could this have come from? I thought this was a disease only dirty people got!!

Scabies is not a " dirty people " disease. The Queen of England could get it if she came into contact with it. I would try natural remedies first and if it doesnt help, use the ointment. Wash everything in hot water. Bag anything that cannot be washed for 2 weeks or more. Just the same as if she had lice.

Hello everyone;

I am new to the list, and as I am an RN with some experience with this, I wanted to respond. First, let me say, that this is nothing to fool around with. If everyone in the house, and the house itself is treated, and re-treated, usually a week later, then you should be able to get rid of it. This can spread so quickly, and my experience with it is when it spread through a nursing facility. Did the doctor do a skin scraping to make the diagnosis? Sometimes, other types of rashes can mimic the rash seen in rabies, so it is important that they do the scraping.

With all of that said, if there is an herbal product that will get rid of this, I would sure like to hear about it. If not, then it must be treated with the products that the doctor, ordered, or everyone in the house, your bedding, pets, etc will be infected. BTW, no...it has nothing to do with cleanliness, and your child could have picked them up either from a person or contaminated area.

Hope this helps.

thank you so much. It helps to know that it wasn't something that I did, or the cleanliness of my house... I did treat her last night, and her sister with the cream... washed everyones bedding in hot water. I used a some of the cream on myself but their daddy haas yet to do so. Can my dogs get infected? will bathe them as soon as I can. The kids were playing in the sand at the park? Could they have gotten it from the sand? thank you so much!!

Welcome to the list Maura. I feel compleled to point out that many of us would only seek the advice of an allopathic doctor (MD, DO etc.) so that we could then pursue the opposite course of treatment. You will never on this list see anyone who will advise anyone to rub a pesticide into the skin of their child. That is a toxic poison and I am not at all surprised that a "doctor" prescribed it. I wouldn't use a pesticide on my dog, never mind my child. This list is compromised mainly of people who go a long way to avoid chemicals and their ill effects. Organic foods, and natural HBA products homemade soaps for laundry and dishes etc. etc. A quick google search should give you an idea how many parents have dealt with sever and fatal health issues after using pesticides on their children for things like lice. Really really bad idea.

Just wanted to clue you in on the tone of the discussions that generally take place here.

Holly, this issue came up not too long ago here. There were several great recommendations made. Go to the files section and search for scabies. You will see all the emails that were exchanged about this and many of them had links to websites that offered natural cures for scabies. I totally agree with Anella. I am so sorry to hear that Holly used the

pesticide cream on her LITTLE child. Holly, you should now call Doc's office

to see what you can do about a detox to get that poison out of your little

girl's system.

Doc says that medico's are welcome to this list as long as they behave. What I

want to know is what constitutes misbehavior? Holly came to the natural

remedies list looking for advice and was told that she should in fact use that

cream. Does encouraging someone who has come to this list for advice to do

something that is toxic constitute misbehavior? I know that I won't stay here

if medico's are permitted to give their ridiculous advice right alongside of

people who can offer real help. Doc, Mary, Brian, Valarie, Kelly....what say

you?

Are you serious??? Why even post to a homeopathic website if you are just going rub dangerous chemicals all over you helpless children, and yourself, and your dog (if you could or need served)???

Really, do you not read our posts? Do you not know how sad this makes many of us (HR seekers) feel to know that because of your unrealistic "fear" of scabies... you have voluntarily poisoned your family and household.

By the way that you for giving those scabies a chance to come out of this BIGGER and BAD'er now that you have doused them with the pesticides maybe the few that linger will have a change to become immume to your beloved Doctor's pesticides. And what next a bath in DEET!

James,

Doc's own words on the matter ...

9. This list is Naturopathic and deals with all natural remedies and

Nutrition only. Allopathic medical treatment and psychiatric treatment are

extremely destructive to the health of human beings and promotion or

discussion of such is OT (off topic). However, how to handle the destructive

results of such treatment using natural methods is definitely ON topic.

to fool around with. If everyone in the house, and the house itself is

treated, and re-treated, usually a week later, then you should be able

to get rid of it. This can spread so quickly, and my experience with it

is when it spread through a nursing facility. Did the doctor do a skin

scraping to make the diagnosis? Sometimes, other types of rashes can

mimic the rash seen in rabies, so it is important that they do the

scraping.

will get rid of this, I would sure like to hear about it. If not, then

it must be treated with the products that the doctor, ordered, or

everyone in the house, your bedding, pets, etc will be infected. BTW,

no...it has nothing to do with cleanliness, and your child could have

picked them up either from a person or contaminated area.

she catch something like this. I am so grossed out! She played in the

from someone? Doc prescribed a topical oitment for all of us, tho she

is the only one showing symptoms, rash head to toe, and itchy as all

get out, poor thing has eczema, too :( so....I gotta wash all the

bedding in HOT water.... what else? where in the world could this have

come from? I thought this was a disease only dirty people got!!

My apologies to the list. I didn't read anything in the post to tell me that the MD had told her to rub pesticides on her child. I also stated that if there was an herb that I wanted to hear about it....and I meant that! It is always preferable to use a natural product. At the same time, I understand how fast this can spread and how distressful if is to a parent to know these bugs are under their child's. It is very uncomfortable, and the scratching that the child will inevitably do can also cause secondary skin infections.

Again, my apologies.

Re: {Herbal Remedies} HELP!!! Scabies!!

Hello everyone;

I am new to the list, and as I am an RN with some experience with this, I wanted to respond. First, let me say, that this is nothing to fool around with. If everyone in the house, and the house itself is treated, and re-treated, usually a week later, then you should be able to get rid of it. With all of that said, if there is an herbal product that will get rid of this, I would sure like to hear about it. If not, then it must be treated with the products that the doctor, ordered, or everyone in the house, your bedding, pets, etc will be infected. Hope this helps.
