Ok folks...I'm sorry I've been on here so much but I'm sick of this! I've been sleeping a little better at night but I'm still sooooo snotty during the day. I tried to go out yesterday but had to come home because I was coughing up phlegm the whole time. I was just blowing my nose, really trying to get as much out as I could but I noticed melted butter colored mucus. I took my vitamins that include b complex, about a hour ago.

I just don't understand why it's taking me so long to get over this. It's been around 4 weeks. I've been taking echinacea, oregano oil, raw garlic, neti pot and I've been avoiding dairy.

And now I have rib pain on the right side as well as the left which the Dr. said was costocondritus...but that doesn't seem right because the pain is on my sides not around my breastplate. Pleurisy sounds more like what I have.

Is this just running its course or should I take Rx antibiotics?

I would try adding colloidal silver to your regiment. Anella-dppromoTo: "Herbal Remedies" <herbal remedies >Thursday, September 24, 2009 12:47:03 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern{Herbal Remedies} melted butter colored nasal mucus?

I would start to take 1 tablespoon of honey with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon twice a day for at least 3 days in a row, as both are ant-viral and anti-bacterial. The kids and I used this all last winter to ward off colds and it worked. We have also had to utilize this regimen in the past week as it is cold season. In our house, everyone knows at the first sign of a cold you head to the cabinet and take cinnamon and honey.

If you really think you have a lung ailment then make an onion poultice as this will help with any infection in lungs.

To make an onion poultice ~take 2 regular yellow onions (I use ones that are at least 2 1/2-3" across; these are ones we grow ourselves, but we have used ones from store), slice thinly and break into rings in a skillet (cast iron will do) with a small amount of olive oil and cook on low heat for about 8 minutes until onions are opaque and some are just beginning to brown. Immediately place onions on some paper towels to remove some of the oil. Place the onions down in center of a 12"x12" piece of thin cloth, like a flannel. Place poultice on area most affected on chest/neck/ear or wherever you are having the issues (we've used this on these areas before~and I've made more than one poulticeat a time to utilize in various areas), leave on for one hour (I also cover area with an old towel to help hold in heat). Do not have a shirt on when doing this as it is greasy. Afterwards, go to bed.

The obvious best time to do this is when you are getting ready for bed soon. Be very, very careful as you can burn your skin from the oil in the onions. I have given myself 1st degree burns (small red patches) from these poultices. You want to apply as hot as you can stand without burning yourself. You can make multiple poultices and reheat one poultice while using the other until the infection/congestion breaks in cases of bronchitis or pneumonia. If it is pleurisy, it will be gone by morning and you will be on the road to getting better. All symptoms will not be gone, but the sharp pains will be gone and you will begin to heal. We've had good results with healing up pleurisy with onion poultices. My kids and husband ask for onion poultices for lung problems. If they feel a tightness or stabbing, they ask me to make a poultice as they know this problem will be gone by morning.

I have used onion poultices many times for pleurisy, bronchitis, and ear infections for various family members, myself included. I have never used this over the sinus cavities on face, but I don't see why it wouldn't help. I haven't had a sinus infection since around 1989, and I wasn't aware of onion poultices at that time or I would have tried it. Again, be careful not to burn yourself!
