{Herbal Remedies} skunk in yard

how to you get ride of them?

Are your skunks giving you trouble? Just watch for when they start

stopping their back feet. Consider that as a warning they are going to

spray.

This is a tried and true method. It will work. Our neighbor had a skunk and of

course we got to share the joys of its presence. It had crawled under their

house and made himself at home. My husband told him to get his kid's portable

stereo and borrow some of his heavy metal rock music (or anything equally as

obnoxious)and to place it so that it blasted where the skunk liked to stay.

Then turn on the rock music and blast it as loud as possible. Go away and leave

it on for a bit - don't know maybe an hour or less. Anyway - the skunk moved

out from under the neighbors house and never came back nor did another come in

all the years after that we lived there - over 15.

Give it a try - what can it hurt. We know it worked once and it was passed on

to us by someone that had tried it and had success also!

getting rid of them...

first try to eliminate all food sources and habitat...places they may sleep

in during the day...like brush piles...

you could try to set a havahart trap...and then wear trash bags as clothes

to get it or call animal control...they need to be let go at quite a

distance as many animals seem to have built in GPS and may find their way

back to your locale...

you could try spraying the area w/ a mixture of blendered garlic and hot

If they are getting into the trash spray some bleach on the stuff. That

sure keeps dogs away. As for why they are coming and what you could do,

animal control would know best I would think..

Whenever we have skunk problems, I have my brother bring over his wolf-dogs and let them mark their territory. The skunks leave right away. If that's not an option for you, there are websites that sell wolf pee and other predator's pee to spray around your yard.

There are certain automotive fluids that taste good to dogs but are deadly

poisonous. I think transmission fluid is one. Mechanics know how many days

a dog has to live if he ingests these substances. Anyway, just thought

maybe a skunk would drink them too.

Yes, definitely don't poison the poor animal! That is cruel and dangerous for

other animals. The skunk is a nice animal and so cute except for the stinky

parts. Also, what if it has babies somewhere? You wouldn't want to kill a

nursing mother!

I'd try the loud, obnoxious music. That sounds like it has worked well in the

past for at least two others.

I would think a good Tomcat would also protect their territory and send a skunk

packing.

If all else fails I would call the animal control people. As long as they don't

kill it.

You could try using your own pee. I used mine to make a "scrape" for deer while deer hunting. Didn't think it would work, but when I came back through there, I saw about a dozen beds where doe had slept that night! We used ammonia too after that, iirc.

Whenever we have skunk problems, I have my brother bring over his wolf-dogs and let them mark their territory. The skunks leave right away. If that's not an option for you, there are websites that sell wolf pee and other predator's pee to spray around your yard.

I just jumped in on this post about the skunk.

I have trapped several skunk this past year and thought I would share what

happened.

We have chickens.

I have a hav a hart trap.

I caught a skunk.

I got a bed sheet, held it up over my head and walked slowly toward the skunk in

the trap.

This prevents the skunk from seeing me and spraying me.

The sheet was a shield from head to toe to HIDE from the skunk.

I gently let the sheet down to drape over the trap and left one end slightly

open.

Later in the day I found the skunk sleeping and fired 3 shots.

Making sure I HIT the skunk I removed the skunk into the woods and the buzzards

ate it!

End os the skunk.

Kindly, MArilyn n Texas

Poor skunk person.

Every creature has a purpose in this world and

Yeah for the skunk people~ send your skunk to ME.

lolol

I get ate up by Japanese beetles every year...they cover EVERYTHING.

I did see on tv that you can get this dirt stuff and put in your ground and

after a couple of years, they will never come back and its all natural.

I am an avid nature lover, but German roaches and Japanese beetles are

on my hit list. I gave them the option to leave. (not roaches, I don't have them)

see me...I would be trying to befriend the skunk person.....but then...

some say I am not right. lolol

Poor little harmless but smelly skunk. Are they trouble with chickens? My

chickens go back in their coop at night and my husband locks the door. We have

the occasional raccoon wonder in the yard to keep out of the coop.

What's the point of a havahart trap to capture it live to only kill it in the

end?

I personally would have put a plastic bag over it and me, then let it free in

the woods and ran as fast as I could.

I ran smack dab into a skunk once and we both ran the opposite directions as

fast as we could. Nobody got hurt.

But that's what I learned from my Dad who grew up on a farm and was a skilled

hunter. He said never kill anything unless you plan to eat it.

Mice and rats are different. We try to seal off the house so mice can't get in

but sometimes they do and we have to trap them.
