Guest guest
You're looking at a simple spelling error here. It's a sound-alike. She's talking about a walking GAIT, which refers to the normal pace and posture of walking and/or running. You see the term in reference to animals, where a particular gait may be required for a particular breed, more often than you do to people. She means her daughter can't walk in a normal manner. Often a degenerative neurological or muscular disorder like multiple sclerosis is at the bottom of something like this, which is why the neurologists keep looking for it. I get why " diet soda " came up, too. I had migraines suddenly come on about the same time diet sodas switched to aspartame, and had them equally suddenly vanish as soon as I quit drinking diet sodas. Aspartame definitely has some ill effects on the neuro system. And yeah, all too often, when the tests typically done for a particular symptom don't explain it, docs will fall back on the " it must be psychological " explanation. I worked for a gastroenterologist for years. I vividly recall several such situations that narrowly missed death due to a " stress " diagnosis. So I take these things seriously. One was an 18 year old university freshman who came down with nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal pain right before his first-ever university finals at one of the country's more elite schools. The ER x-rays didn't show any obstruction, ulcers, there was no internal bleeding. They gave him ulcer meds anyway and they didn't help. So it had to be stress related, right? I mean, look at the situation. Of COURSE it had to be stress. Well, the kid got lucky. In a panic he started calling every GI doc in the phone book. The only one who took him seriously was MY doc, who was infamous for looking for off-the-wall, atypical explanations. She ordered an ultrasound to rule out gallstones, and the whole department snickered. After all, this was an 18 year old kid. He could not possibly have developed gallstones at his age. Guess what. He had gallstones, including a nice big one lodged in his bile duct. This kid was well on his way to a liver blockage that could have been fatal. Another was an older lady who had fairly ordinary bowel complaints. Once the expensive colonoscopies, endoscopies and x-rays failed to show anything, they were ready to write her off as a stress case. She had diabetes and a thyroid disorder. The message most docs seem not to get these days is that a " belly ache " isn't always caused by a digestive disease. My point is, this " neuromuscular " symptom may not be caused by a nervous system or muscular disease. Toxins are almost never investigated because except for foreign travelers, suicide or murder, nobody ever any commonly ingested or contacted substance could possibly be toxic. Hence the value of specialists like Doc and his family and colleagues, who immediately and often rightly suspect toxicity and rule it out first thing. herbal remedies , BUTCH574 <butch574 wrote: > > what is walking gate? > > > > In a message dated 07/03/09 17:27:39 Eastern Daylight Time, srp2wantsnospam writes: > > > > Does she drink diet sodas? > > Sheila > > flowerpetal52 wrote: > My daughter who is 28 had her walking gate taken from her for almost a year on and off and more off last year. having 3 neurologists do tests and mri's..they ruled out MS completely. Then the blood ruled out allergy to glutein as in celiac. Her vitamin d was a little low and everything else was fine. They told her last year it was called conversion disorder which is stress related or some say " its something they call it cause they dont know " > nevertheless, she is a very happy well rounded normal girl that just wants to finish her college and get on with getting on but when you get so weak you can't walk but with a cane if you even can, then your body vibrates at times when you want to sleep at night seems to me they need to dig deeper or just dont care. I am her mom. I care. I need to know if anything else can do this as in parasites perhaps, hormones or something else they need to test for.. > If anyone can shed some light on it.. sure would like to hear about it.. > God bless > > > CHANGE has ARRIVED and it ain't pretty!! > > http://www.fairtax.org/campaigns/support_fair_tax.html?gclid=CJv78o_7140CFQwsOAo\ dEyF0lg > > He truly lives dangerously who trusts his health to a doctor, his rights to a lawyer, his money to a banker, or his soul to a preacher >
