Susan,

How long can you preserve them? Vinegar vs Olive Oil? And would you use an organic apple cider vinegar? Or a different variety?

TIA

Rubbed sage is dried sage rubbed in your palm until it becomes a rough powder or flake; I dry my sage and keep it in an airtight jar until I need it and then I just rub it in my palm to release the flavors and break up the leaves and stems. Rubbing it just before adding to a recipe keeps the strength in the leaves; once it is broken up it loses it strength over time. Keeping an herb in natural form helps it retain it's properties, this includes keeping it in airtight, dark containers away from heat. If you do not want to dry them you can preserve them in olive oil or vinegar. Freezing is okay if you can vacuum pack it to prevent the air from freezer burning the herb.Susan in Gaherbal remedies, Bobbie Smith <bobbiedsmith@ ...> wrote:>> buy it in the spice aisle - not sure why the recipe i got called for rubbed sage, but it did> but i buy it at the grocery store
