Guest guest
For acute panic/anxiety episodes try Doc Shillington's Nerve Tonic. When a panic attack hits it can calm you down within a couple of minutes. During a traumatic and stressful situation, I kept it in my purse. For depression, fish oils are very successful with a lot of people. They kick in at about three weeks. There are many clinical trials to show that they work very well as this is a missing nutritional componant in many of our diets. DHA is important for brain and hormone function. Avoid sugar and processed foods. Sugar messes with your hormones by spiking insulin, causes mood swings and eats up vites, esp B in your body. If you feel you are low on B get a good B complex, esp B1. A shortage of B1 can make you feel very low or give you bad dreams. You will feel vitamin B's right away as a pickup. My favorite way to get B vites is a scoop of brewers yeast in a shake. Get some exercise (like a walk) and sun every day. Do activities that make you happy. Keep busy and productive. Take dance lessons. Plant some flowers and/or a veggie patch. Go to the art museum or a concert. Go to church. Have coffee with some old friends you haven't seen in a while. Clean out your closets or kitchen cupboards. There are a number of clinical studies that show regular exercise is a cure for depression. Endorphins, you know. In this automobile age we don't walk as much as our bodies were meant to do. And with tv/computers we don't socialize enough. Get active. You may need a change of pace. Take a weekend away or a vacation to somewhere beautiful. It can recharge your batteries and make you feel a whole lot better. Go to bed early. My doctor told me the body has a natural rhythm and is meant to sleep between the hours of 10 pm and 2 am. It's called the 'angel train' by healthcare practitioners, when your body regenerates. If you stay up late you miss out on it. Get plenty of sleep. If you have trouble sleeping drink a cup of A to B Calm before going to bed. It's a relaxing, warm, cal-mag drink. Avoid toxic people. Don't have time for them. The damage they do to your life and well-being isn't worth it. Keep some chocolate in the house for emergencies. It always makes me feel better. Life has it's ups and downs. Everyone feels down at times but if you take good care of yourself & know a few tips to make it better, it can take the edge off the hardships. Live and feel better! How long might it be before I would notice relief, with the St John's Wort? Also - are there any herbs out there that could help with anxiety/panic? I have tried valerian and it didn't help. I took it for over a year. Is there anything else I could try? > > Thanks in advance, > > Rose >
Guest guest
Something that worked really well for me was 5HTP, 100 mg in the morning with a meal, and 100 mg with lunch. It stopped my 5 year depression in its tracks. I was thinking about suicide every day, in every way. And I think it was all caused by Zyban (Wellbutrin) that I took to quit smoking. And I only took that for a couple of weeks. I remember thinking that it was pretty strange that I felt more depressed while I was on an antidepressant. I cried all the time, and felt like life was hopeless. The 5HTP snapped me right out of it! You can get it at any health food store. I live in Montana now, and I take it once in a while in the winter, because it is soooo gloomy here. I am going to try Vitamin D this year and see if that helps.Trina --- On Thu, 6/18/09, thetamama <rebeccawendel wrote: thetamama <rebeccawendel{Herbal Remedies} Re: Hi and question about depression/panicherbal remedies Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 11:27 AM For acute panic/anxiety episodes try Doc Shillington' s Nerve Tonic.
