Guest guest
WOW...what strong words from the doctor...get ready for the wheelchair?? You have got to be kidding me. Some doctors are so rude..but there are many in each profession. Your post caught my eye because I have a ruptured L5-S1 disk that puts me through so much pain especially about once a year when the little piece slides out and pinches that sciatic nerve. Here lately I have been having hip pain and groin pain. First doc said it was pulled muscle. I figured that was pretty much bull..and went back this week and was told it was probably that disk coming coming out and pinching nerver on right side now. My neuro-surgeon keeps pushing for me to have surgery. I have two small toddlers though and couldn't imagin not picking them up for 10 weeks and wondering what the house would look like! lol. Anyway..that pushed a button with the comment from the doctor...only if they went through some of the stuff we do!! Terri S. Guest guest
Terri, I have had disc problems such as you describe for years . About a year ago I was in a minor car accident which stirred up everything and added hip problems to the mix. I went to a Physical Therapist who was wonderful . He is an older guy , trained many years ago, and does not use the crazy modern machines. He suggested I read - "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue, which I read in its entirety. After reading it he had me start the E-Cises in the book a few at a time. It is just amazing the progress I have made. Through the book I realized why I had the ruptured disc years ago and the hip problems now. What's more is that it can be handled. The E-cises in the book gently restore muscle memory .. The body really is a perfect machine and you CAN heal it . Mary O Terri D. wrote: WOW...what strong words from the doctor...get ready for the wheelchair?? You have got to be kidding me. Guest guest
I am really not understanding something here. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Neuropathy--no known cause--about 6 years ago,I hve it legs and arms. Not one doctor has ever said anything about a wheelchair.I know others that have it and still have never heard anything about a wheelchair so I am curious what about the disease causes one to have hip pain or have to need a wheelchair. I was given meds to deaden the nerves, problem was,it deadened all the nerves so I quit taking it. By the way I too have been having knee and hip pain so thats why all the questions thanks Marsha--- On Thu, 6/18/09, Terri D. <msterra29 wrote: Terri D. <msterra29Re: {Herbal Remedies} Neuropathy-Desireeherbal remedies Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 9:04 AM WOW...what strong words from the doctor...get ready for the wheelchair?? Guest guest
Hello Terri, I am wondering if you are doing any yoga for your back? I went throught the same thing you went through 6 years ago and have restored my back with a particular kind of yoga. I would be willing to share it with you if you are interested. " this is off topic, not herbal but still part of the healing and very important...my thoughts on this are that hip pain and wheelchairs come from years of poor circulation in the areas of concern...if fresh, oxygenated blood cannot circulate around the body freely, then tissue starts to deteriorate...this then begs another question, are people getting enough fresh, oxygenated blood into the body...this is achieved by daily exercise, deep breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi, qi gong etc...DAILY!...when my back (disc) was ruptured i luckily enough had a physiologist ask me if i wanted to do this with drugs or without...i said without and he wrote on his prescription pad a yoga video and a pilates video...i happened to see the yoga video in walmart (a place i don't usually support) and bought it...it is called 'yoga for athletes' by rodney yee...he focuses on the athlete that is constantly throwing his/her body out of symmetry with left or right handedness/legedness however it applies to all of us...he says that if two things in your body are not up to par, then your back will sooner or later go out on you...one is if your hips are closed and two is if your hamstrings are not flexible enough...if one or both of these mechanical requirements are not met then sooner or later the hips will have pain and the wheelchair will arrive...almost the entire purpose of yoga (aside from yolking the body and mind into spirit) is to put the body and internal organs into anti-gravity positions to allow freshly oxygenated blood to circulate around and into particular organs where fresh blood might not otherwise get to if we were to not be in the particular posture while breathing slowly and deeply
