Guest guest
Hi I just found out my cat is diabetic and will have to be insulin dependant. Are there any herbal formulas that can be used for this situation I really dont want to have to give him an injection 2 times a day for the rest of his life. He is such a mush cat and will probably hate me ~~PEACE~~HippeeSandee Bloomingburg NY USAHippeeSandee's Endless Mountains Realm"People don't stop dancing because they get too old People get old because they stop dancing"
Guest guest
feed him meat. no kibbles. kibbles are grain and have a high glycemic index and will raise his blood sugar. let him eat wiold greens, grass, catnip. again, low glycemig index, good for him. i bought a pressure canner and can my catfood. you can usually get chicken legs and quarters for 35-59 cents a pound. I cook them down, debone and put the meat and broth in a small pint mason jar, and process them in the pressure canner. a lot of food for a little money. also much cheaper than the little cans of cat food you buy in the store, and much better...no preservatives or added anything. my diabetic cat does not have to have injectins, and is doing very well for an 18 year old guy! since changing his diet, he PLAYS! something i havnt seen him do in more than 5 years!--- On Wed, 6/17/09, HippeeSandee <hippeesandee wrote: HippeeSandee <hippeesandee{Herbal Remedies} Diebetic catherbal remedies Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 10:35 AM Hi I just found out my cat is diabetic and will have to be insulin dependant. Guest guest
such a great suggestion...but for cats...my dog ( choc lab) is 10 y/o...and tho there is no problem now...what you sadi causes me concern that her food too has a high glycemic index...and perhps may promoter the development of diabetes...wondering about suggestions for dogs...oddly enough ( or not) she loves dandelion greens / flower heads...she eats on her own...and cabbage / broccoli / and romain lettuce will have her jumping...i have afriend who feeds her dog raw meats as that is what they would get in nature ( not domesticated)...and i wonder about that too...any thoughts on a raw diet for dogs?...as in the wild there would be no cooked food...thanks...daniel--- On Wed, 6/17/09, windflower song <windflowersong wrote:windflower song <windflowersongRe: {Herbal Remedies} Diebetic catherbal remedies Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 2:17 PM feed him meat. no kibbles. kibbles are grain and have a high glycemic index and will raise his blood sugar. let him eat wiold greens, grass, catnip. again, low glycemig index, good for him. i bought a pressure canner and can my catfood. you can usually get chicken legs and quarters for 35-59 cents a pound. Guest guest
Thank you wildflower song I haven't done any pressure cooking in 40 years (will give it a try) Since I have 6 cats, i think I'll slow cook a whole chicken (cut it up), I get organic chickens at a very reasonable price fresh from the chicken farm, do just the meat.. This is going to be a challenge Thanks ~~PEACE~~HippeeSandee Bloomingburg NY USAHippeeSandee's Endless Mountains Realm"People don't stop dancing because they get too old People get old because they stop dancing"--- On Wed, 6/17/09, windflower song <windflowersong wrote: windflower song <windflowersongRe: {Herbal Remedies} Diebetic catherbal remedies Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 2:17 PM feed him meat. no kibbles. kibbles are grain and have a high glycemic index and will raise his blood sugar. let him eat wiold greens, grass, catnip. again, low glycemig index, good for him. i bought a pressure canner and can my catfood. you can usually get chicken legs and quarters for 35-59 cents a pound.
