Aloha Friends,

I have two children, ages 6 and 1.5, and ear infections are a regular occurance.

Kaya's first infection was bad and she would not sleep on her back. In fact, at

one point she would not go to sleep unless she were on her stomach across raised

knees. She had a fever and was pulling at her ears. She also did not want to

be set down and did not have the balance that she normally does. These are some

of the signs that a child has a ear infection.

I went to the pediatrician and she wanted to give our daughter, 1.5,

Amoxicillin. At the same time, she stated that 95% of all ear infections heal

by themselves. We did not give Kaya very much of the Amoxicillin, but did use a

homeopathic remedy of garlic/olive oil.

When I was a child they did not have Amoxicillin and I remember having ear

infections. My mother would drip warm garlic/olive oil into my ear and I was

free of infection within a week.

Unless there are some real signs of hearing loss, fever and irritability, it is

not necessary to see the pediatrician. Start treatment with garlic/olive oil,

warmed slightly on the stove. Put 5-8 drops in each ear twice a day and monitor

your child's improvement. Apply this solutions for 5-7 days.
