Guest guest
hello all, correct me if i'm wrong but i think this is how it goes...there are basically two types of garlic, hardneck (with a stem in the middle) and softneck (no stem)...the hardneck will keep longer as others have mentioned in proper humidity and temperature devoid of light...up here in canada the softneck version grows better so my 'persian star' garlic starts to get punky about february...i will start drying a portion like doc suggested, great idea... i also like grating some and mixing into a small jar of honey for putting in my medicinal teas or just popping in my mouth when i feel a cold coming on...this year i will also buy a bottle of vodka and pop in as many peeled cloves as i can afford...my dad is a garlic lover big time and one year for his birthday i sent him a nice bottle of vodka full of garlic cloves and a shishkebab skewer... michael hollihn, british columbia, zone 5/
