Joy Divenuti asked:

How long can you leave the garlic in the ground? Or is there a way to store them so they don't go bad. i.e. I wouldn't use the garlic all up before they started rotting.>

Good garlic doesn't die, it just starts sprouting in the spring. I am still eating mine, harvested last July, and it is perfect. Much depends on how it is cured.

If garlic is left unharvested and untended, it will turn into something resembling garlic grass. Each bulb will divide into small plants, right? I have had this happen in an abandoned garden.

If you plant extra garlic they are delicious eaten as you would a leek, first thing in spring.

For all things garlic, may I recommend "Growing Great Garlic"by oh heck....I think Rod Engelman. Something close.
