When I was a little girl we had a lot of oleander trees in the neighborhood and we climbed those trees and broke off the stems and licked that milky substance off our fingers and we never got sick. I have wondered about that since I have learned they are poisonous.

Yes!!!!! Oleander is highly poisonous but it does have some medicinaluses. It's very high level herbology and not to be experimented with. NoApprentice or Journeyman should even touch it as this is Master orGrandmaster material.Story:Not so many years ago a group of hitch hikers/hippies made camp along aUS highway. (They plant the sides of the highways with Oleander as it isa great sound break and grows fairly fast.) The straight stems of theOleander made great hot dog sticks and after the meal they went tosleep. In the morning six were dead and the vegetarian was the solesurvivor. She later learned that the hot dog sticks poisoned the dogsand killed her friends.
