hello all, blessings to all, i hope this is how to do it, i am a

self-taught person who

heals with natural/organic foods and herbs, i grow as much of my own

medicine as possible in the form of annual and perennial

plants...please forgive any ignorances i may have as i am

self-taught...my inspirations have been from dr. matsen nd in

vancouver, bc (liver toxicity and yeast infections), paul pitchfords

book 'healing with whole foods', maria de bairachly levy books on

natural cures with herbs for children, animals and us; susun weed wise

women herbals for birthing and raising our children; maurice messegue

book 'of men and plants' and how he healed many and avoided the law by

non-oral administration and soaking herbs through hands and feet, this

i've used many times for certain ailments with much success....i tell

this to give a background...if anyone sees any gaps is logic or

learning i do appreciate enlightenment...i do have a current dis-ease

that is affecting my familly that i would like help with....i will buy

the two cds and order the free cd (3 cds in total am i correct?) in

order to support this great means of healing....

my question:

about 6 week ago my son age 1.5 had what appeared to be a pimple on

his nose and forehead...it turned into a sore that would not heal...he

also had a burn on his wrist from the wood stove and i applied aloe

which might have exacerbated the problem as i learned more....i was

applying herbal treatments (i will say which later) but he was not

healing...it was difficult as being 1.5 he would always scratch/remove

any medicine/bandage...we thought it was herpes or impetigo and were

concerned with it infecting the eye so my wife took him to the doctor

and he was diagnosed with impetigo and given oral antibiotic

" milk " ....it cleared up within days and he seems fine...we have him

eating probiotic, yogurt, kefir and sauerkraut to restore flora.....i

got the infection through open wounds on my hands (i''m a woodworker

and usuallly have at least one wound on my hand at all times) and my

daughter age 3 got one on her knee....the 3 infections that sprouted

on my right hand are healed, i am fighting the last one on my left

hand now, and my daughters on her knee is stubbornly sitting as a

large scab with an infectious red ring around it....i want to know if

i am remedying correctly or missing something....each day i am soaking

my hand several times in a tea of oregano, lavender, turmeric, golden

seal, marshmallow, comfrey, echinacea, slippery elm, marigold, garlic,

thyme, sage....after soaking i apply neem oil with turmeric and golden

seal or just dust wound with golden seal/turmeric then bandage it for

work....sometimes i topically apply tea tree oil or lavender oil....i

am also trying to clean my blood, wondering if this is not a

surface/skin problem but a blood problem? for this i am drinking tea

of burdock, yellow dock, nettle, echinacea, hyssop, marshmallow, and

peppermint and trying to fast and avoid sugars, wheats, alcohols and

basically eating miso soup with onion/garlic and some brown rice....my

wife is concerned about our daughter and the wound being on her for so

long and wants to go to antibiotics...i'm resisting....what are people

thoughts? is there any concern to a prolonged herbal battle with this

dis-ease? what are the side-effects of antibiotics? kind thanks for all your

time and wisdoms

Hi!i'm mostly self-taught having had only one "real" aromatherapy class, but the rest of my learning from books and awesome groups like this. if anything i write is contrary to what others have learned, please correct me! i'm not a medical person or claim to be, but i've learnd a lot in my readingsin what i've been studying - here is what i have learned about antibiotics:- antibiotics are like little pac man people - they go thru and munch all the blood cells, good and bad -- hoping to kill all the right ones and make you better -- i used to get so sick when i'd take antibiotics, i never realized why until i started studying the homeopathic healing -- anyway the antibiotics go in and kill everything and in the process get the bad bacteria --- there are lots of documented side effects of

antibiotics which you can easily find anywhere on the internet -- the new "antibiotic-resistant" strains are coming along because those antibiotics (chemicals) are all EXACTLY the same - every batch of any given chemical prescription is basically the same thing as the rest - the bacteria become resistant because they learn these antibiotics and adapt to them -- i've learned that supposedly the people who developed antibiotics knew they only had x number of years to work - that's why they keep coming out with new and more powerful drugs, but they're still all going to stop working at some point -- now with plant oils (thyme is 30 times more powerful than the most powerful antibiotics (again from my reading)) -- like humans, every plant is different so when you get thyme essential oils every batch is different so there is no way for the bacteria to adapt to it -- the other major plus is that essential oils know the difference between good cells and bad

cells and only attack the bad cells and that's why there aren't side effects to essential oils unless you're allergic to that certain plantnow that being said -- in essential oils, i think every person should have at the very least lavender, tea tree, thyme and peppermint oils in their arsenal -- i have yet to find anything that these 4 oils can't curetea tree is antiviralthyme is antibacterial lavender is both antiviral and antibacterial and a great pain killer (especially good for healing burns)and peppermint is great for headaches and alertnessi've been using essential oils on myself and my family since 2005 and have NEVER had any side effects or bad reactions - whereas before, i am allergic to about everything in the world and my allergies are hardly noticeable anymore especially when it comes to my laundry!!!i hope this helps, and like i said, if anyone sees where i've learned anything wrong, please
