Guest guest
True about this area being mind boggling and confusing. It is the same with the field of natural healing, There are just dump truck loads of false information on healthy life style every where you look. Education empowers us all so here is two cents; i hope it helps clear the fog. Vegetarian: One who eats nothing but vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts & seeds. New age definition seems to mean one who can eat anything but flesh. If you eat nothing but mud and powdered rocks I would say you are a bottom feeder, not a vegetarian. Others might disagree and argue that a bottom feeder eats no meat so he's a vegetarian. I think of a vegetarian as one who eats mostly vegetables. Lacto Vegetarian: One who eats like a vegetarian but also eats milk, cheese and other dairy products. Eggs are a poultry product, not dairy. A common confusion. Vegan: A true vegetarian and what the word vegetarian once meant. Vegans eat nothing that had a face or came from anything that had a face. No Meat, No eggs, No milk or milk products. Rabbits, cows, horses and elephants are examples of nature's all raw vegans. Carnivore: One who eats flesh. A predator like a cat or hawk. Omnivore: One who eats plants, meat and a little of everything. USA Normal Diet: One who eats 3 entire cows per year full of hormones, drugs, steroids and antibiotics. Consumes over a hundred chickens per year. Eats micro amounts of raw vegetables. Lives mostly on GMO grain, meat and sugar. Now if everyone was gonna jump off a cliff..... All RAW: One who eats food in its natural form. Usually All RAW is a higher level vegan eating only raw fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds but there are folks who eat raw beef, fish, eggs, rabbits, etc. Questions may arise about pickling, fermenting, aging and drying but I'll let someone else take up this topic. THough I may eat one from time to time. I don't use milk, but cottage cheese, goat cheese, and sour cream as the only dairy. As I said before, rice and almond milk are my staples. A lacto-ovo vegetarian eats dairy products and eggs, but no meat, fish, and poultry. then, a lacto vegetarian eats dairy products but not eggs, whereas an ovo vegetarian eats eggs but not dairy products. a vegan eats no flesh and no milk or dairy or honey. a person who eats a vegetarian diet but still eats fish is called a pesci vegetarian. a semi vegetarian eats some fish and chicken as well. A *vegan* would want to follow the list given for proteins. A vegan eats NO animal products. " Nothing with a face on it, or came from something with a face on it " as Doc would say. Vegetarians are more into not consuming anything that causes harm to a warm blooded creature. Eggs, of course, then are either non fertile, or completely undeveloped (they don't become a living individual until incuabation starts - 10 hours of correct temperature and humidity). > > Me, I am going vegetarian.
