Our filter stopped working in our shower and I have not received the replacement yet.  I almost can't sleep at night because my skin is so itchy and dry.  My shoulders are now rough feeling and I've also broke out all of the sudden.  My skin on my face looks 15 years older than I am.  I have been taking some kelp for the iodine but it doesn't seem to help.  The fish oil I take (Carlson) doesn't seem to do much for me either.  Our air is dry right now but oils can't even help.  What do I do?  I need relief. I would suggest two things: Make an oat bath and add 1-2 Tablespoons of

almond oil to the bath as almond oil is emollient, absorbs readily into the skin and

helps to moisturize. You could add a few drops of lavender essential oil to

this bath to make it more luxurious.

I have taken these baths before and they are truly lovely!

To create an oat bath you will need:

A large soup pot

Enough rolled oats to fill the pot about 1/2 inch deep - (several cups)

Water to fill the pot.

Put the oats in the pot and fill the pot almost to the top with hot water.

Bring the water to a boil. Watch it carefully as it likes to boil over a lot!.

Simmer over low heat for several hours.

Remove the thin film that forms on top. It is very emollient and can be placed

on an especially dry or itchy part of your body for extra soothing and moisturizing.

Strain the oats out of the milky water.

As you fill your bath with water, pour the slick, milky water into your bath.

Get into the oat bath and soak for at least twenty minutes.

Note: Use rolled oats, not instant!

You can buy almond oil (cooking oil section)

in some grocery stores

and in most health food stores.

Blessings,

I am sorry to hear about the pain and suffering you are having to endure as you await your filter replacement. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and requires a lot of internal hydration as well as external protection and care. You might want to clarify a little bit more for some of the more experienced herbal healers out there. What type of cleanser do you use on your skin? Are you adding 'natural' topical lotions or oils? Another consideration is how much water are you drinking? You might want to try to get some steam in your home going to help add moisture to your air. Something as simple as a simmering pot of water on the stove works. If you have a radiant heat source such as a wood stove you can put a coffee can with water in it and place it on top. If you use your cook stove make sure you check it often so it doesn't dry out and cause a fire. I am an apprentice but this group has a lot of wonderful seasoned herbal healers. Listen and learn and hopefully you will get some relief soon.

My husband is very toxic... (has Parkinson's Disease) which stems from heavy metal and pesticide poisoning. Before he developed the symptoms of Parkinson's and was actually diagnosed, he started having the greasy hair and skin.. now it is terrible.

I keep him detoxed as best I can but it just keeps getting worse as the years go by.

Also we observed that people who ingest drugs tend to have lank greasy hair, and we know that drugs are toxic. Just a thought, you might want to try some detoxing methods.
