Guest guest
Lisa, I would do everything possible to NOT take that drug! YES, see an ND! Your nurse practitioner is wrong. I'll bet 10 doctors would all recommend a different antibiotic, depending upon who their favorite drug salesman is! Here are some ideas to help you, but I am not a doctor and the decision is up to you, but I believe all are safe when pregnant. GrapeFruit Seed extract (health food store, is this your Nutribiotic plus?). This was a saving grace for me when I had my kidney infection. I took two capsules every 4 hours, and I gargled with the liquid version several times per day which helps to get it into the blood stream quicker. This is what I use instead of an antibiotic. 1 Tbsp Vitamin C crystals, (that's about 12 grams), with 1/2 tsp baking soda, put one inch of water in a glass, let fizz, then add more water and drink. As often as you want to get the Vitamin C into you and to alkalize your body and reduce inflammation. The addition of baking soda neutralized the acidicness of the Vitamin C (not the effectiveness), and makes it more bioavailable. Black Cherry Juice by Knudsen, no sugars. I drank a quart a day, and it was expensive! Helps to clean the urinary tract. You can also eat fresh cherries and is nourishing. Just Cranberry Juice by Knudsen, no sugars in it. You can use stevia if needed for sweetening, but I just diluted it by half with distilled water and drank it often. Cranberry provides protection from ecoli so that it can't cling to the walls of urinary tract. Water with fresh squeezed lemon, drink it all day long. Cleansing, fights inflammation. Freshly juiced apples. Great for breaking up any crystallization in the kidneys, bladder, liver. Everything passes through the liver! 8 oz water with 1 tsp organic Apple Cider Vinegar, sipped all day long, replace when finished. Alkalize and kill bacteria, fight inflammation. As much green tea as you can drink. Antioxidants and cleansing. That is a lot of liquid, but you need to stay hydrated and flush those toxins out of your blood stream quickly. My urine went from light amber to a very dark amber during my illness, and then back to light amber before it turned a normal very pale yellow. It took about 10 days total. Keep at it until you are better. I stayed on my regime for about 18 days total to be sure I had eradicated the issue. I also took Uva Ursi and Corn Silk herbal capsules, but I can't say they should be taken when pregnant. The fever itself is your immune system fighting the infection. Not a bad thing, just don't let it get too high. There is a product called Megahydrate by Dr. Patrick Flanagan, and the same by Source Naturals which they call Hydrogen Boost, excellent and fast working antioxidant. This is fabulous for cleaning the blood in less than 30 minutes, but that means you need to flush those bad guys out quickly with all the above liquids. I believe this is what broke my fever and turned me around. I believe this is very safe to take during pregnancy, because what it does it provide extra oxygen to your cells which kills off pathogens in the process. You won't be hungry with all this liquid, but you do need to feed your baby. Oily fish and veggies are best to get the nutrients into your system, or use a green drink (TOTAL NUTRITION), and be sure to add fish oil. Keep us posted, and give your pharmacist a hug for me! Sounds like he has a conscience, but he did fill the prescription, so he will not be getting a kiss! Maybe you should recommend he join us at Herbal Remedies! Guest guest
I had chronic UTI's until I cut way back on sugars and caffine, and finally learned about my gluten intolerance. I haven't had one in a few years now. The last few that I did have to endure a couple years ago now, I treated with HIGH doses of Vit. C. 5-6 grams a day (yes, that's 5000-6000 mg). Between that, and drinking a lot of water, NO caffine, sugar, chocolate, they were wiped right out before they even got a chance to travel. I used to have it in my kindneys overnight, almost instantanously, and would make me extremely ill. Kim Blessed Farm, WA
Guest guest
Stay away from it! About 15 years ago (before I knew better) my doctor prescribed this for a bladder infection I had. Within a day of taking it, my mouth had broken out with white ulcers so bad I couldn't eat (and I only weigh 95) I called her and she told me to stop taking it IMMEDIATELY; that a whole buch of people had died from it (possible side effect!)Trina --- On Sun, 3/1/09, Diane Mackey <dmackey00 wrote: Diane Mackey <dmackey00Re: {Herbal Remedies} Prescribed generic of Antibiotic Bactrin (Sulfameth/Trimethoprim) at 22 wksherbal remedies Date: Sunday, March 1, 2009, 11:49 AM Lisa,I would do everything possible to NOT take that drug!YES, see an ND!Your nurse practitioner is wrong.
