I've always heard that menstrual cramps are painful because of a magnesium/iron deficiency as well as extra hormones from foods.  I eat all organic and am a vegetarian (12 years) I get a good does of both of these minerals every day, however my first day I feel like my uterus is being wrung out like a wet cloth.  I also drink some apple cider vinegar, take evening primrose, omega 3 fish oil, and drink cayenne pepper.  What am I doing wrong? Carnations mean admiration, Tulips mean love - what do Roses mean? Find out now!

Are you getting enough calcium? Calcium deficiency often causes extreme menstrual cramping as calcium regulates estrogen production. You could also have a hormonal imbalance that can cause this problem. I had horrible cramps that would keep me in bed doubled over for 10-12 hours on my first day of menses from age 11 1/2 to age 14 1/2, then I got pregnant with my first child and have never had cramps since! Years ago my Gyn told me that I had most likely had my hormones out of balance...I also ate a typical teen diet (early 1970's), which meant a lot of junk, including a lot of pop (Pepsi), chips, chocolate milk, cheeseburgers, french fries, and the like, and not mainly from fast food but from home and school.

I've heard that caffeine makes it worse, but I'm not sure. I'm a coffee junkie and when I quit coffee for a while a few years back, I didn't notice a difference.Yeah for vegetarians :) we are too, in our 2nd year.--- On Fri, 2/13/09, dppromo <dppromo wrote:dppromo <dppromo{Herbal Remedies} why are mense cramps painfulherbal remedies Date: Friday, February 13, 2009, 3:48 PM

I take a great multi vitamin (garden of lifes Vitamin Code)  It has all organic and raw ingredients and I just realized it only has 2% of your calcium...but I eat a lot of dairy (raw cheese, kefir, dark greens)  and would think that I get enough...Maybe I don't. I also take extra magnesium so I wonder if this is a bad balance?  I do try to avoid dairy when I'm about to start because I think it's going to make me go to the bathroom.  I am taking a little longer than I want getting pregnant...I wonder if this has anything to do with it... THanks!

Well your body uses calcium for lots of things, chiefly to balance blood ph (a measure of how acidic or alkaline your system is). It will take calcium from teeth and bones to balance blood ph. So you really do need lots of it. I would recommend Doc's body balance formula. I don't know how expensive it is, but it is really really super easy to make!

I make mine (and it is the only thing that I do make). I have 6 children and what I learned is that my calcium needs during pregnancy increase significantly. So you have to find a way to increase your calcium intake and also to ensure that calcium isn't being sucked out of your teeth and bones. I would look at Doc's body balance formula to keep the calcium in my teeth and bones and then look at Doc's lemon egg formula to put new organic readily absorbed calcium in. *Especially if trying to concieve* You might also want to look at some of the herbs in the female formulas. I would call Doc's office and ask! 888-898-9660

Female Formula has all the herbs for relieving PMS cramping and the Body Balance is the greatest source of natural iron I know of.

#828-835-8071 for more information on Doc's Female Formula.

I know what you mean. I just spent my entire weekend in pain. Its weird

because one month is " normal " and then the next month I'll start

cramping( BAD CRAMPING ) 5-7 days before I start my period and then I

am completly disabled for the duration.
