Guest guest
A Line in the Sand Wow! Wow!! And Wow again!!! That’s all I can say after my first reading of Lawrence Anthony’s awesome book, “Babylon’s Ark”. This book is one of the greatest adventure stories I’ve ever read! While showing the destruction that only man is capable of, it offers true and real solutions to this planet’s problems. Nowadays, the social and international problems confronting man are humongous. They appear to be so great they are for the most part completely unconfrontable. Welllll, Babylon’s Ark is the autobiographical story of one man’s decision to actually “Do Something About it”!!! Mr. Anthony was keenly aware of the initial devastation created by the war in Iraq, and being a top notch conservationist, he was appalled by the potential loss of all the animals in the zoo in Baghdad. With nothing but guts, determination, a pocket full of cash he had grabbed on the go, a satellite handheld phone, and a good measure of a gift of the gab, he set off single handedly to see what he could do for the suffering animals in the Baghdad zoo compound. This is his story. When reading the book I laughed often, while other times I was tearful for there was a great deal of humor along with a measure of sadness. Besides Mr. Anthony, there were others in this story who could honestly lay claim to the title of “Hero”, including the original Iraqi zoo staffers who stayed to the end of the project and beyond. I don’t want to tell you any more since I wouldn’t want to spoil the book for any of my friends, but you’ve simply got to read this story for yourself. You can order the book directly from Amazon.com for under $12. But the final chapter tells of what Mr. Anthony did after his incredible adventure in Baghdad. He formed The Earth Organization – the ultimate solution, and a Worldwide, non-profit organization to help set right what the greed of man had created. You too can help do something about it and are welcome to join The Earth Organization. The best way to sign up is to go to The Earth Org Website at: Http://www.EarthOrganization.com If you are living in the US, be sure to select the US icon and then click on the “Join Us” tab at the top of the page. This will ensure your membership donation is tax deductible. If you are living outside the US, select the “International” site and then select the “Make a Difference” tab and then select “Join the Earth Organization”. When you contact them, remember to request the FREE DVD on what the Earth Org is all about. You’ll find that Mr. Anthony didn’t stop with just the animals on this planet of ours; The Earth Organization takes on the whole tamale when it comes to environmental issues. Wanna help??? I did, and signed up immediately. As a matter of fact, this is my second year as a member. You too can sign up, and I’d love to have you working along side of me on this project. After all, I think we should leave a “living planet” for our children and grandchildren. Don’t you? Together we can win this battle without firing a single shot. As Lawrence Anthony did in Baghdad, it’s time we drew “A Line in the Sand”. Won’t you join us? Guest guest
It is very well worth the read. It gives one hope that maybe, just perhaps we just might salvage this planet for our children's sake. ;o) Doc Ranie Jordan wrote: Sounds like a book worth MAKING time to read!
