Pin Worms

Doc,

My 33 year old son-in-law has pinworms; he has used an OTC treatment

twice (4 treatments) and 2 weeks after treatment they recur. I believe

they have invaded his system and not stayed in his digestive system;

what can he use to cleanse his body of them.

The itching starts when he takes a bath after work as a tree trimmer on

power lines. The rest of the family hasn't been infected but took the

treatment once to be sure; he needs help because the itching keeps him

awake at night and he doesn't want the others to be infected. We

believe he has had them for years and didn't get treatment soon enough.

Thanks,

Susan

Pinworms are easily killed off by ingesting raw pumpkin seeds. Raw pumpkin seeds are used as a vermifuge (worm killer) in all parts of the world where pumpkins are grown. You can buy them at any health food store. Make sure they are green (raw and dehulled)), unsalted, and have everyone, including the brother-in-law, snack on a small handful a couple fo times a day. Within a day or two your brother-in-law should notice that they are died off. Since he is so infected, I would have him eat them for at least 5-7 days. But you want everyne in the family treated. Also, change all bedding and wash in hottest water and dry in dryer. Ditto for undergarments and pj's as you don;t want any eggs left for reinfestation. Have brother-in-law take a shower in mornings ot kill off any eggs that may have been laid outside of anal area, and stress that handwashing after every bathroom trip must be religiously observed! Little children are especially notorious for not washing their hands, for itching anal area, then later on putting hands in and around mouth which can cause reinfestation. Really good hygiene can also help keep from being reinfested.

I would also have him go to the health food store and buy black walnut hulls (in capsules) as black walnut is also a stong vermifuge, as is raw garlic. With these three items there is no kind of a parasite that is going to survive!

There are also parasite cleanses that can be purchased, but I have very successfully used raw pumpkin seeds with my own children and with our pets! We had a dog who got pinworms once and I put some pumpkin seeds in my food processor and ground them up like meal and added them to some wet dog food. The dog gobbled up the food and the worms disappeared. She never got them back and I treated the everyone in family by having all of us snack on raw pumpkin seeds so we would not be infected by dog. We never got them.

In order to get relief at night (before the seeds can do their dastardly work), I placed slathered petroleum jelly around anal area as a barrier to the worms so the kids would have relief. I washed my hands WELL after doing this. This keeps the worms from getting out and being active (itching!) and the next day they are usually dead and no more problems. We do not use petroleum jelly often, but this is one time when it can be a God send. Perhaps there is a more natural agent that could be used to keep the worms from coming out, if so, I am not aware of what it is.

To my knowledge, pinworms live in the lower intestines and come out of anus at night to lay eggs. I have never heard of them migrating to other parts of body. Other worms will, but I don't think pinworms do.

Good luck!
