my 19 yr old son has been diagnosed with gluten intolerance after a

stool test from enterolabs in dallas. needless to say, pretty

difficult diagnosis for a kid who's just gone to college. the story

re ibs and the intestinal detox got my attention - might it be

appropriate for him? and also - any idea if gluten intolerance is

ever reversed/healed? the lab says it's a genetic issue and he has to

avoid it forever, acupuncturist says it gets healed when body is

healthy. who to believe? thanks.

Peggy,

There are various groups who have different tendencies towards problems with digestion of certain foods.

IT is often because they lack sufficient digestive enzymes for particular food groups.

It may also be because a person has aquired an allergy towards certain food groups.

digestive enzyme insufficiency may be found often with wheat/gluten, and also with milk

which contains lactose. With the latter, lactase is the enzyme that helps to break down milk sugars.
