Guest guest
I have not heard of that method, but here are a few things I used successfully at home: - make a strong sage infusion, let it cool, gargle a few times during the day for a few days - fold a kitchen towel so it is long and narrow like a small scarf, spread some raw organic honey and cover honey with freshly ground organic black pepper. put poultice around ones neck and keep on overnight or so. repeat as needed - throughout the day I would also take 1 heaping tsp of raw organic honey with 1 or 2 oz of freshly squeezed lemon juice - Rosemary's Soothing Cough Syrup is also great help with sore throats. Many may already know this preparation, but if you do not you are welcome to email me directly for the recipe. Hope this helps Daniela herbal remedies , " mrjpower " <mrjpower wrote: > > i use laurel tea (bay leaf tea) for minor sore throat..boil 3 full size > leaves for 5 minutes,,,has bad taste but the indians put a little cream > and sugar in it to help children handle it..Has anyone else heard of > this method.?????!!!!! >
Guest guest
I would first like to point out that many laurel leaves are highly poisonous, so be careful in the future to call this " bay leaf tea " and not " laurel tea! " All of the suggestions here are quite good. I personally have had wonderful results for sore throat with an infusion or decoction of thyme leaves used as a gargle (and you can swallow it for its potent systemic immune-boosting and anti-infection effects). Another thing that I have found to be very helpful for sore throats (which are a fairly common problem I experience) is actually a bit funny in how simple it is - I simply scratch the back of my throat regularly with the back of my tongue. This is a technique that's difficult to describe, but you may be familiar with it - it makes a funny " frog " kind of noise when done properly. It does a wonderful job of clearing excess mucous and bacteria from the tonsils and adenoids, the most common sites of throat infections. When I do it correctly, my lower jaw juts outward slightly while remaining closed, the tip of my tongue presses firmly against the roof of my mouth, and I kind of try to inhale through my mouth but allow the back of my tongue to block my throat and also rub the rear of the roof of my mouth. I hope that that conveys it... Another classic treatment for sore throats in Slippery Elm bark, or any other mucilage-rich plant matter. The mucilage coats the throat, which relieves symptoms but doesn't do much for the infection itself. Conversely, the tongue-clicking method above helps the infection greatly, but may actually be painful if the symptoms are bad. Finally the greatest thing I have found for a sore or dry and scratchy throat is a simple, thorough salt water gargle. Be sure to use lots of salt, and let it dissolve completely into lukewarm water! The salt fights infection directly, while also drawing fluid out of the inflamed tissues, reducing swelling and any associated pain. Those are my absolute best tips! herbal remedies , " Daniela " <ddsales wrote: > > I have not heard of that method, but here are a few things I used > successfully at home: > > - make a strong sage infusion, let it cool, gargle a few times during > the day for a few days > > - fold a kitchen towel so it is long and narrow like a small scarf, > spread some raw organic honey and cover honey with freshly ground > organic black pepper. put poultice around ones neck and keep on > overnight or so. repeat as needed > > - throughout the day I would also take 1 heaping tsp of raw organic > honey with 1 or 2 oz of freshly squeezed lemon juice > > - Rosemary's Soothing Cough Syrup is also great help with sore > throats.
