To all interested in studying Classical Chinese medicine

A great opportunity has developed for in-depth study of Shang Han Lun

style of medicine with Arnaud Versluys PhD, LAc. Dr. Versluys is one

of the very few Western scholars to have received his full medical

training in China. He spent over ten years at the Chinese medical

universities of Wuhan, Beijing and Chengdu, where he consecutively

pursued his Bachelor, Master and Doctor Degrees in Chinese medicine

and acupuncture. He was mentored by Shang Han Lun expert Zeng Rong Xiu

whose teacher was Master Tian He Ming. This has given him a wealth of

experience and understanding to draw from for his lectures

Here's the chance for advanced training based on the medical canons of

the Han Dynasty. The program is currently designed to cover 8 weekends

over the next 10 months and will offer over 100 CEUs (pending approval).

Perhaps you just want to listen to fascinating lectures to gain some

CEUs/PDAs. This is a great chance. Lectures will cover the roots from

the Nei Jing, the use of flavors to construct formulas according to 5

phase relationships, Shang Han Lun pathophysiology and how it relates

to modern clinic (Arnaud specializes in autoimmune disorders) and how

to apply the functional medicine thinking of Shang Han Lun to

acupuncture.

I took a seminar with Zeng Rongxiu in Portland, arranged by Arnaud in

March, and I highly recommend this course. A rare opportunity to

penetrate the Shang Han Lun in all of its depth.

Stephen,

Thanks for organizing this!

I've heard amazing things about Arnaud Versluys from a couple of respected

physicians.

Also, fantastic price. Is that $250 per weekend if you sign up for the first

two?

How is his English?

My teachers in school made us memorize lines without any understanding.

Hope he can communicate the inspiration of the ancients.

If he can, I'll definitely be there.

Anyone else take a class from Arnaud?

Thanks again,

K.

HI Kokko

Yeah, I'm really excited about this program.

You're right about the price, it's a combo of startup special and early

bird registration.

Normal is $325 per weekend.

Arnaud's English is impeccable, I think Dutch is his native

language...but he only has a hint of an accent. If you do come, you'll

see that his ability to explain many complex ideas is inspiring.

In his own practice, he only uses Zhang Ji formulas and

modifications...even in the treatment of autoimmune disorders!

I had the same experience in school that you mentioned. I've been

studying Shang Han Lun for 8 years on my own. (thanks to Craig Mitchell,

et al for great work!) I memorized this or that but lacked context.

Arnaud's combination of formal training and having been mentored by Fang

Ji specialist Zeng Rong Xiu provides the context...though this is a

specific lineage from Tian He Ming.

From what little I've learned from him, I am already seeing things

differently and writing much smaller formulas...but I still have a long

way to go.

hope this works out for you, Kokko...seeing your passion for learning,

I'm sure you'll love it.

Dear Stephen

This may be a long shot but I 'll give it a go. Would you consider taping

this seminar....have it professionally recorded? I am interested enough to

financially commit in advance if I could acquire these teachings .

HI Turiya

We are discussing this issue, at the moment our focus is on the upcoming

live lecture.

One concern about recordings is that some of the segments like the pulse

seminar and the Fukushin (abdominal palpation) will include practical

segments that can only be appreciated live.

I'll keep you posted when a decision is made
