Brian,

Yes. The founders of the medical professions were larger than life

characters:

Huang Di, Shen nong (chinese medicine), David Palmer (chiropractic), A.T.

Still (osteopathic) etc.

The medicine proves itself, but is always steeped in controversy.

Here is an interesting article by Ted Kaptchuk:

tml

Then, there's quackwatch.com which has both Chiropractic and Chinese

medicine on its hit list.

Chiropractic is seen more as a threat to allopathic legitimacy at this point

of the game.

The Four Reliances:

Do not rely upon the individual, but rely upon the teaching.

As far as teachings go, do not rely upon the words alone, but rely upon the

meaning that underlies them.

Regarding the meaning, do not rely upon the provisional meaning alone, but

rely upon the definitive meaning.

And regarding the definitive meaning, do not rely upon ordinary

consciousness, but rely upon wisdom awareness.
