Guest guest
Yes Don, that would be okay. Your skills would be self-limiting. You alone would be responsible for the success or damage you might do to someone, not the profession. I have patients manipulate themselves all the time without any training. I don't like it much when they mess up, but it's another source of income when they do. Most physical therapists get about this much additional training (the " weekend " ) in Class IV manipulation and do just fine. But of course, they have just spent from 4 to 8 years learning their trade. They also have enough wisdom and caution to limit what they do until they learn more. This is true of Chiropractors, Osteopaths and Allopaths when learning about Acupuncture (as opposed to TCM). You folks have to get a hold of yourselves and quit making ignorant judgements. First off, I don't know of any one " weekend courses " in Acupuncture and of any practitioner with Malpractice Insurance who would attempt to practice Acupuncture after only reading a book, attending a weekend course or watching or CD. They would most likely become " self- limiting " if they did! I do know of " poorly trained " colleagues who attempt to practice Acupuncture. I often see their patients. It is an unhappy, but good source of additional income. We have two very fine TCM colleges in Colorado which produce excellent TCM practitioners. There are a couple of them in town. They are often a good source of income as well. I'm sorry, but I think your arrogance is only excelled by your ignorance and fuelled by some bad experiences and preconceived notions which have nothing to do with the business of helping humankind get proper care. But that's just my opinion.... Bill
