Guest guest
Will.......I'm afraid that I don't have the experience of many folks on this list, especially when it comes to treating phantom limb pain. I'm sure that someone will be able to give you good input. What I can tell you is that an MD colleague of mine here on the East Coast has been treating PLP very successsfully in the Gulf War amputee population with botox injections. Before treating him with TCM and possibly taking longer to achieve measurable results, I would encourage you to ascertain his state of mind because people with PLP frequently are borderline suicidal. Best of luck in treating him,. Kay King, DC, LAc.
Guest guest
Hello, I have no first hand experience but I heard from some colleagues practicing shiatsu that they had good results working in the phantom limb as if it were still there. >I would encourage you to ascertain his state of mind because people with >PLP frequently are borderline suicidal. > The bordeline suicidal state may be linked to being constantly in high levels of pain. Guest guest
Hi! Have not done it, but why make it complcated. Ask where the experienced pain is and treat it as you would if the limb was really there. If using point on the lacking limb, use the other side if that limb is still there, or use corresponding area on the other leg if the pain is reffered to the arm. For example, if pain refered to Large Intestin 5 on right arm, treat Lung 9 on left arm or Spleen 5 on left leg. (The principle of treating opposite, and the principle of treatin lower with upper) /Peter Chinese Medicine , " Artemis Papert " <artemis.artemis wrote: > > Hello, > > I have no first hand experience but I heard from some colleagues practicing > shiatsu that they had good results working in the phantom limb as if it were > still there. > > >I would encourage you to ascertain his state of mind because people with > >PLP frequently are borderline suicidal. > > > The bordeline suicidal state may be linked to being constantly in high > levels of pain. > > Artemis >
