Guest guest
I'm presenting my thesis next week friday about acupuncture and fertility. While I'm trying to be prepared for some nasty questions, I found one question for which I couldn't find any answer. Does anybody has a good answer? The question is: Why do the text books mention HEART QI(instead of heart yang) as the necessary power to switch from yin to yang and from yang to yin in the menstrual cycle? It is the only topic in acupuncture, mentioning heart Qi? Thanks a lot, Pascale

Guest guest
Pascale, I'm not sure if this qualifies as a GOOD answer but I'll give it a shot. First I'll quote Suwen in " Essence is the foundation of the human body " Essence/Jing is the potential of differentiation into Yin and Yang. It greatly influences the ablility of reproduction, growth and development. Kidney yin provides the material substance for the Kidney yang acitvation- similar to the oil and the flame of the oil lamp. (end of quote) Now I know this is talking about the kidney essence but I think the principle applies to the heart as well. It is the post-natal essence that leads to Gu-Qi combined with the Da Qi...that gives you the final product and THAT product, Heart Qi, provides the material for yang activation. Just my opinion, (and that of a student as well), hope it helps. Wishing you wisdom.
