Hi All, & Jason,

Many references mention Chuanxiong in FORMULAS to Tonify Xue,

especially when combined with Hbs that Tonify / Nourish Xue, like Shudi,

Danggui, Baishao (as in Siwu Tang).

Most references on Chuanxiong mention its function to Quicken Xue

(Huoxue) or Dispel Xueyu (Quyu) but do not attribute a function to Build /

Nourish Xue (Buxue / Yangxue).

However, one Chinese source [ http://tinyurl.com/5tlpaa says [translation]]:

Chuanxiong can Tonify Xue (Buxue) to Tx Xuexu Headache. Another quote

from that page says: Yiqi San (One Marvel Powder) has Danggui &

Chuanxiong, wine fried in equal amounts + Shengjiang 5 slices; used to Tx

postpartum Xuexu headache (Chanhou Xuexu Toutong); serve dried over

fire & fried.

Also, http://tinyurl.com/5t5qob says: Ligustrazine [Chuanxiongqin - active

compound extracted from Chuanxiong] can correct radiation-induced Xuexu

in mice & promote hematopoietic cell growth and proliferation.

Therefore, I would include a minor " Tonify Xue " function to Chuanxiong,

while recognising a much stronger function to Quicken Xue & Disperse

Xueyu.

Best regards,
