Adrenal fatigue can be the underlying cause of many disorders, including fatigue, hormone imbalance, blood sugar regulation, neurotransmitter deficiency, and the negative effects of aging. In Chinese medicine, kidney and jing disorders are most often the differentiated syndromes. Insulin resistance, now reaching epidemic proportions in Western societies, is due to chronic over- consumption of carbohydrates and sugars, and is the main cause of obesity, heart disease, and chronic inflammation. Hypothyroid, usually secondary to adrenal fatigue, can be monitored with blood tests, and responds well to Chinese herbal intervention. Finally, the physiology of liver detoxification will be explained, with recommendations for effective liver regulation using Chinese herbal formulas. In this workshop, we will discuss Western physiological mechanisms, OM energetic physiology, OM herbal applications, and nutritional therapies with rationale. Throughout, we will demonstrate the use of lab tests (blood, stool and saliva) and therapeutics within the context of real case histories.
