Guest guest
I am currently trying to find out any research on the Chinese Disorder named " shen jing shuai rou " . what are the origins of the name and when was it spoken of in the literature?. It is unfortunate IMO that the term " neurasthenia " has been dropped from western medical use, as it not only encompasses psychemotional symptoms but physical as well...the spirit at a core level is involved. The terms " depression " and " dysthymia " don't accurately describe the same thing...neither does " chronic fatigue " I was wondering if anyone happens to know what the herbal constituents are of the patent medicinal called " shen jing shuai rou wan " . I read an article by Bob Flaws about CFIDS and its relationship to neurasthenia. It mentioned a formula by Zhu Guan-wen. I am wondering if the prepared medicinal bears any resemblance to this formula and was hoping to decipher the thinking behind it if it doesn't. thanks for any insight R. Guest guest
shen2jing1 = nerve shuai1ruo4 = weakening (note that's ruo not rou) (rou2 = soft, rou4 = flesh) shen2jing1bing4 = neuropathy or mental disorder (but used in common vernacular to mean as many different things as " you're crazy " does in American English) Neurasthenia to my understanding always implied a kind of " shell-shocked " frazzled debility, so I would predict a patent to be a basic Qi tonic plus dragonbone, semen zizyphus etc. Hope that helps joe reid www.jreidomd.blogspot.com Chinese Medicine , " rcooper1us " <rcooper1us wrote:> > I am currently trying to find out any research on the Chinese Disorder > named " shen jing shuai rou " . what are the origins of the name and when > was it spoken of in the literature?.
