A new patient had Western tests indicating her adrenals were not

functioning. Need advice on herbal formula. Do I do Kidney yang

formula or combo Spleen-Kid formula or other?

She complained of extreme fatigue, not refreshed upon waking,body/leg

heaviness, short term memory loss/foggy. She has been on hypothyroid

meds for more than 20 years, but lately cannot lose weight. Her

pulses are deep and thin, no Kidney pulses evident, moderate speed.

Her tongue was pale red, some teeth marks on the sides, red tip,

yellowish coat (she had sore throat/sinus issues on the first

visit). She is vegetarian and eats a lot of raw; and drinks 100 oz.

of water a day! I advised cooked vegs, more protein, and less water.

She went and got her Western tests after that first visit.

Her sx seem to be dampness due to Spleen deficiency and Kid yang

def. -- but she has no cold symptoms (the thyroid meds may be taking

care of that....?.

I think she may also be blood deficient -- she had very heavy periods

and also donates blood often as she is type O/universal donar. She

has no dizziness/dryness, though, although sides of tongue are

slightly orange, or at least a different color red than the rest of

the tongue. Any and all herbal advice appreciated! Also, would

decoction be best, or granules ok?

Thanks!

I've been using a supplement called " Adrenal Response " by Innate Response

with some pretty good results for my patients with adrenal fatigue. It's

definitely not straight-up TCM, but I do like the combination of ayurvedic,

Chinese, and Western herbs. I don't remember all the ingredients off-hand,

but I know it includes ashwagandha, ginseng, schizandra, and rhodiola.

For a more traditional approach, perhaps Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang +Tu Si

Zi? This should be helpful in transforming Damp/Phlegm by supporting SP Qi,

with the Tu Si Zi supporting KI without being too warming.

Keep us posted on your progress!

check out Evergreen's Adrenoplex. Comes in capsules or just

granulated.
