Guest guest
I am doing a term paper for the TAI-Sophia herb program on where to buy herbs. I know about K'an, Mayway, Crane, Golden Flower and Needle. Are there any other good suppliers that I am missing. The focus of the paper will be how to use the discounts available to minimize the cost of buying herbs, granules, and pills. I can post the paper when it is finished. Thanks, Zinnia
Guest guest
I like Evergreen and Dragon Herbs also, besides the first 2 you mentioned. I also use individual herb packets from Tian Jiang which makes it easy to have a versatile pharmacy without stocking and wasting raw herbs (which is preferred but I don't have a large enough patient base right now to support that). > K'an, Mayway, Crane, Golden Flower and Needle. > Are there any other good suppliers that I am missing. Guest guest
Hi Zinnia, Far East Summit just moved from Los Angeles to a new place in Dexter, Oregon. They have quite concentrated liquid and dry dosage extracts. They also perform factory runs for other companies like Pacific Biologic (Clayton, CA) that have modern research CM formulas and some Tibetan formulas. I like Hank Babcock (Far East operations VP whom I consider a bit of a genius at methodology of herb extraction.) He cut his teeth under Michael McGuffin in the early 1990s after his Chinese medical studies. Hank is more of a Taoist practitioner than a clinical practitioner, and it shows up in his work. I'm amazed by the results of his extractions (combinations of water/alcohol/low temperatures) as compared to purely water based extracts that I've seen over the years. Both Far East Summit and Pacific Biologic products tend to be higher in price, but there's a lot more work put in to them. I think their products may be represented in the Golden Needle catalog (not sure), so these companies may already be accounted for on your list. BioEssence in Richmond, CA is my neighbor just a few blocks away. I've worked with people there in the early 1990s and continue to like their company's culture. Respectfully, Emmanuel Segmen

Guest guest
Hi. While I was attending school in Santa Fe, NM, I worked for Dr Zhao the owner of East Tao Corp. for several years under his instruction. Checking the herbs, layering the herbs in the pots, preparing them for boiling, reboiling and mixing, reducing and pouring and sealing, setting up large industrial boilers, filling cartons, labeling, stocking the warehouses etc. Many little nuances to guarantee product standardization and efficacy and purity. Dr. Zhao made frequent trips to china for product purity, and purchasing quality pearl and other expensive ingredients, and has tried and succeeded in offering mainly vegetal formulas from wise use manufacturers. He has grown to where his powders and pills and many concentrated liquids are prepared in more quantity, according to his methods, and has a large catalog of formulas which singly or in combination, can be used by a TCM practitioner, to address many common and uncommon human health problems. He combines imho, the best of the traditional, bing ji, and modern scientific knowledge, resulting in product forms (liquid, pill, powder, etc.), that is most bioavailable for the necessities of the patient's condition. Without giving away simple but effective processes he has found useful in making the plants and substances give up their potency to the end-product, I have used and will use and recommend east tao product line to anyone. Look it up and try them, they really are good quality. That is the final measure. http://easttao.com/catalog/index.htm Patricia Jordan <coastalcatclinic wrote: How about East Tao Herb Pharmacy, any experience with their products?Sincerely,Patricia Jordan DVM,CVA,CTCVM & Herbology : janet_fritts: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 15:14:52 +0000Re: herb suppliers Greetings all,Anyone had any experience with KPC Herbs both tincture and v-caps?I have used with a few patients pretty good results. Guest guest
Alon, I just noticed that the server software deleted the email addresses that I posted for Far East Summit. I'll write out " code " as admin at fareastsummit dot com. And also support at fareastsummit dot com. There is another insight that I think you probably share with me. I find that the list of companies that I don't do business with is shorter than the list of companies that I do engage in some level of business. Part of one's professional development is exploring what each company has uniquely to offer and how that might be useful to your own clinical or business practices. Started using some of his formulas after a seminar with him (the most engaging lecturer on herbs that i have heard). They work well. Douglas Knapp Doctoral Fellow, L.Ac. Guest guest
Dr. Guo and Life Rising are at www.liferising.com. I have been using his products for 5 years now. It was really fortunate for me because I have not yet learned Chinese herbology but Dr. Guo knows an enormous amount about the herbs, formulas, history and even newer sciences of active components and how they respond to being put into tablets, capsules, raw teas or granulated teas. He came down from Chicago once a month or two to teach a small group of us. His products are all categorized with name, ingredients, effect (clear heat, raise qi, clear damp, tonify qi, etc. etc.) and its effect on symptoms. This is great for me because I just arrive at a syndrome and pick the formula(s) that would address it. There are so many to choose from I can easily get what I need with 2-3 formulas. Seeing him so often made me realize he is really in it to help people. He works very hard, is available for consultation, runs a few herb factories in China and makes sure the herbs are grown and processed correctly with no shortcuts and keeps his prices at just a touch over break even.
