Guest guest
Hello, I have a patient with severe tearing of the eyes. It happens anytime, indoors or out, makeup or no makeup, in the shower, when she washes her face, when she is just sitting at home doing nothing. I treat her primarily for Kidney yin deficiency, and although most of her symptoms (she came in with back pain, hip pain, hot flashes, night sweats) are greatly improved, we haven't made a dent in the eye condition. Any thoughts on what pattern this is and how best to treat it? Thank you, Elizabeth Fellows, M.Ac., L.Ac. Hyattsville, Maryland, US
Guest guest
Hi Elizabeth, My mom has this and was just diagnosed with (western med) a condition called blepharitis. You can google it for more information. She has recently been given a lubricating eye ointment and other medication for it, but I don't know what it is. Interestingly enough, western docs diagnos this as part of Dry Eye syndrome, and their " best solution " if the meds don't work, is silicone implants into the tear ducts to prevent the re-absorption of tears. I'm not treating her, since she lives in another state. I hope this helps. Elizabeth Lancaster Fellows <Elizabeth wrote: Hello, I have a patient with severe tearing of the eyes. Guest guest
Hi Elizabeth, My mom is an acupuncturist, and she treated my grandmother for constant tearing of the eyes by needling UB1. This was successful with only one treatment. May be worth a try! -Roselle Roselle McNeilly, MSOM LAc MQP of Admissions, AIMC Berkeley Chinese Medicine , " Elizabeth Lancaster Fellows " <Elizabeth wrote: > > Hello, > I have a patient with severe tearing of the eyes.
