Guest guest
Has anyone treated someone with sucess with nasal polyps through acupuncture alone? I have a patient who had polyps removed in 2005 and they have now come back. I am treating him using LI 19/20, Bitong, DU22/23, LI 4, SP9 and ST36. He is LU and SP 9 and ST36. Does anyone recommend a good book on allergy's. Many thanks.
Guest guest
Sorry this took me so long, I have not been on the site in ages. I had an elderly woman with nasal polyps, one of the most helpful things was a Neti Pot with either salt water or a few drops of tea tree in it. She was seen by an ENT before and after a series of treatments and her polyps ¨miraculously¨ shrunk. Also, because this is a accumulation condition, don´t forget about xi cleft points... LI 7, UB 63, ST 34... etc. Hope this is helpful and not too late. Guest guest
Having had them myself, I have a special awareness in treating nasal polyps. I am wary of saline " trauma " to the nasal cavity and sinuses as it has not be helpful long term with many patients (this home treatment, while effective, is often poorly supervised). Clearing up allergies and chronic postnasal drip via acupuncture is much more helpful. Treatment is systemic for allergies as the person dictates. I find most nasal polyp suffers are " Qi deficient " types, with deficiencies of Lung, Kidney and Spleen. It is not surprising that many of them are asthmatics or have a proclivity for respiratory illness. Diet and exercise are very important for long term treatment as well. My most effective points are Suliao (GV 25) and Lieque (LU 7). Suliao is seen as " very effective for polyps " Lieque is the Lung Luo point. Additional points are LI 4, 20 (for their relationship to the lung and nose), GV 22, 23 and the extra points in this area. The latter are especially good for the runny nose that often occurs when things get moving. May these thoughts help someone in nee. Good luck and good health.
